Jpup's MVP NCAA Baseball Rosters (Sharkport PS2)

Just want to let everyone know that I plan on doing rosters for the PS2 version of the game using sharkport. I will be naming every player on every team in the game using their 2004-05 rosters. I may choose to make current 2005-06 rosters at a later time. I plan to have them 100% before the weekend is over. I plan to pick up the game sometime on Thursday. I don't need anyone to post links for rosters as I think I have all of that covered for now. I may ask for some help through the weekend. I haven't decided if I am going to edit appearances or not, but that will probably happen at some point. The same can be said for player ratings. Hopefully they are decently accurate.

Now I'm off to find my sharkport disc that I haven't used in a couple of years. I know I have got it somewhere. Just hope my PS2 doesn't die on me anytime soon. I am back to using my "launch" PS2 as I gave my new PS2 slim to my sister for Chrismas. She already broke it, but that's another story. I kind of wish that I hadn't sold my XBOX now, but what can you do. I figured this game would be BC w/ the 360, but I guess not.

I am looking forward to this project and hope you enjoy the finished product.

I only have maxdrive - is it possible to convert the sharkport file to a maxdrive file?

Yes, there's a conversiont tool on the forums somewhere. Just search "conversion."

I appreciate the work you're gonna put into the rosters but I think nearly all users of this game will want the rosters for 2005-2006 instead of the older rosters. I know EA is basing the rosters from last year but there is gonna be rosters made available for the 05-06 season probably first. I don't know how this is gonna play out with EA using the rosters from last year. There is going to be an awful lot of editing & CAPS in order to create a realistic roster for this upcoming season. Certainly, by you doing the rosters from the 04-05 season will be much easier than editing one for the 05-06 season. I'm not criticizing you in any way just enlighting you on what most users are going to want first. I do feel that the ones working on getting a realistic roster for the upcoming season is in for some hard work. Thanks!

I'm looking forward to using last years rosters! That is the year I started to become interested in college baseball, and also the year Florida did well.

Furthermore, my limited knowledge and awareness of the college game and it's players makes me appreciate any named and accurate roster set. I don't care if the rosters are from 2000. If they are named and accurate, I'll start there and work towards present day.

After a season or so, rosters are going to be fictionalized out any way, so I don't see how one year is a big issue. The turnover in college rosters is such that years and 100% roster accuracy isn't as important, as players careers are 3-4 years tops, as opposed to 5+ in professional sports.

It really is a big issue because there are going to be many freshmen that are major contributors for their respective teams. Also, you have JUCO guys that are coming into respective programs to start. Another big thing is the fact of having players that either graduated,transferred,drafted in the game when these guys aren't truly available. This can be very inaccurate for actual rosters. I mean having seniors from last years teams with this upcoming season is not accurate at all. The underclassmen thing isn't as big of a deal but with incoming freshmen,JUCO,tranfers,etc. this will make last years rosters basically a null for most players of this game. Thanks!

I guess, but just don't use Jpup's rosters then?

I am really looking forward to using a named set of rosters from last year. To those that consider it a big deal, I guess the only advice I have is for them to not use a roster with names from last year.

I'm not bashing you in any way with what you're going to do. There will be some that will really appreciate your work. I was just posting comments to your original thread topic & expressing what I think that most will be looking for in the rosters for this first college baseball game release. Thanks!

I am making 2004-05 rosters first. I don't really worry about what "most" people want. I'll make them the way I want to and if you would like to use them, feel free. If not, move on.

btw, I hate the cowboys.
