Player Progression

So I finally got decent at this game (ps2) this year (decent for me is 4 games under .500 in August. I have a shot to make the wildcard if I play good baseball down the stretch). Anyhow, looking ahead to next season, how is the player progression in this game? I've heard that players from the amateur draft are terrible, so I'm not expecting anything great from them. However, What is the progression like for those on the Major League, AAA and AA levels? Will AAA batters' hitting attributes jump enough for them to make the Major League club next season (I suppose this would be in the range of 5-10pt increases from say 58 contact to 63)? What about pitchers? This is probably my biggest inquiry as I have a fascination with young pitching phenoms. I have a guy who is pretty decent in AAA with a 5-2 record and an ERA in the low 3's. He has a 4 seamer in the low 70's, same with a breaking pitch, and then a 2 seamer and changeup in the mid 60's. Would I be able to get those 70 pitches to say 75 and the 66 to 70? Thanks for the help.

Re: Player Progression

Progression seems to be completely random based on the player's star potential and age.

Re: Player Progression

At least in my couple of experiences, the players in the minors progressed 5-7 points if they did good, I had one player go up 13 points, a couple had poor seasons went down a couple points.

Is it only overall rating (even though I think there's no numerical rating for that, only bar), a total of points over numerous attributes, or for a single attribute?

Several single attributes went up.
This one hitter went up +13 Contact v.s Lefties.

Re: Player Progression

The young guys who are anything meaningful in the minors do progress, but even if you have a good season with some of the older guys they still seem to drastically decrease. I've hit pretty well with Ken Griffey Jr. in 2005 and 2006 (mid-20's homers, .280ish average) and he still went VERY downhill as far as his attributes go.

Now he really does suck. haha

Re: Player Progression

I know that if you get the MVP 07 patch for PC on mvpmods.com there's a progression fix. I can't believe I still play this game religiously...it's just too much fun
