I see you have sliders for both mvp and all-star and was wondering what level do you play most your games on and why?

Re: dowies all star level version 4.0

I'm getting ready to play MVP again since playing MLB. I actually lost interest due to the lack of walks and hitting in the game. My concern are the hitting sliders. I remember the CPU hitting too many bombs on mistake pitches and I myself eventually teeing off a few too many. By my 80th game I had human con/prw at 0,0 and the CPU contact to 50! and still won 140 games. My concern is does the user and cpu eventually play HR Derby or do you see a variety of more hits. I like to work for my 7-8 hits per game and not have 15 hits like MLB.

I think if you use thses sliders in their entirety and dont throw your 2 cents on some of them (they were made to play smoothly off of each other) then you will feel challenged all year ....especially with the pitching sliders where they are at. Dowie

Re: dowies all star level version 4.0

Dowie,

Using The Tribe as my chise, I am 4-1. As usual, the CPU cannot score runs no matter how much offense you give it. Once you learn how to pitch it takes a mistake pitch to get the cpu to score and it's usually a HR. As for my offense. Well my offensive problems have disappeared. I don't know if it's me (timing) or the sliders but I'm scoring 7-8 runs and getting double digit hits. Granted, I have not faced an ace yet. I am getting a nice variety of hits and not too many homers yet. My feeling given the Tribes good hitting, I will need to reduce con/pow for human to make the game more realistic, especially if my players progress anymore than they are now. Otherwise, running, fielding is spot on.

Re: dowies all star level version 4.0

you are still dominating pitching at 10 stamina? Wow. Maybe up it to 15 fatigue for the user, or up cpu hitting to 30/15 or 35/15. Are you using 27/15 for human? Dowie

Re: dowies all star level version 4.0

I am using 15/25 human con/pwr? I believe this was on the original version. Should I switch to 25 con, 15pwr human? I have CPU at 30 con/15pwr. I played a game 2 games last night vs the Tigers and lost 2-1 (I really struggled on offense) and won the next one 5-2 but had 8 hits. The boxscore was 5 runs, 8 hits, 2 HR's 6 walks and 6 strikeouts. Despite the 5 runs, I really struggled the first 4 innings with only 3 singles vs Jason Johnson no less. Only until the 6 and 7th innings when he was at 60% capacity did I put a good inning together. So your sliders are fine. I wouldn't consider these games blowouts. Keep in mind CHW and Det were not good teams in 2005. The test will be vs. NYY, BOS and LAA. I should lose some of those series.

That's what I love about this game, you can struggle vs, 4th and 5th starters due to variable stuff and blow out an ace once in a while. Also, at ball rate 8, I'm averaging better than 3-5 walks per game. However, you really have to work the count and get alot of 2 strike counts during the beginning innings. This game really rewards those who work the count. Now if I can only get the CPU to score more than 2 runs per game. Perhaps I should consider MVP level. But Allstar plays so well in this game.
