User pitcher fatigue?

I've noticed that some slider settings range from -17 to 6.

How could they be that different?

Re: User pitcher fatigue?

I think if you want to get realistic pitch counts you need about -17 to achieve that.Make the piching meter a minus number also. I have my meter at -38, but some guys here go -50.

Also I think some guys set thier fatigue at +15 or more to try and get relievers fatigued between games. Which is fine, but I can't get decent pitch counts or walks that way. I've set my bullpen fatigue to 50, and my bullpen grace to -45. That helps with the relievers somewhat, but EA really needed seperate sliders for starters, middle relief, and closers.

Re: User pitcher fatigue?

I think it depends on how many pitches you throw in a game on average. If you are looking for pure realism (where aces can throw 100+ per game) then you need to set it -17 or lower so your fatigue doesn't drop too low too fast. I work hitters but not to the extent of "real life" (my good starters throw in the 75-85 pitch range) so I have to set my fatigue a little closer to 0 (curently -10).

Oh ok, now it makes sense.

Because I'm in the 100 pitch range(what I want my starters to get), and I knew I was not going to get there with it at 0 even.

the best tradeoff --- (you have to ensure that you manually restrain yourself from pitching starters without normal days off) is to use -12 for starters and switch to +40 to +45 (user pitcher fatigue)for short relief -- this at least ensures you use relievers in a normal way

How many days off do they need if you go through say have their stamina?

Can you use your closer, say, 3 days in a row?

@ 40 for reliever fatigue -- Here's how it works out :

pitches/ fatigue %
15 / 65
20 / 53
25 / 41
30 / 30

What this does is not allow a reliever to work three consecutive days; One scenario : 25 pitches day 1, at day 2 fatig % will be 78% ---- if pitching 20 pitches on day 2 then day 3 fatigue % would be 64% ; Obviously this would not allow you to use a reliever three days in a row.

BTW starters at 40 fatigue (while simming) still recover to 100% after 2 days rest.

The only way that you I can see making fatigue work correctly in a season is to adjust it manually during a game: put it at 12 for starters and long relief (you may have to make pitch control easier during the starter's pitching O/w you will not make it to 100 pitches); 25 for middle relief; and then 45 for setup and closers

Hey jzicc, do you make these same changes for the CPU when they bring in relievers?

Thx.

Re: User pitcher fatigue?

If you are going for realism, some closers can and will go 3+ days in a row in real life. Cordero for Washington, for example, has pitched 4 days straight:

15 pitches on 5/28
7 pitches on 5/29
11 pitches on 5/30
and a whopping 24 pitches on 5/31

Granted this is more the exception than the rule, but is why I believe the sliders cannot effectively and realistically handle relievers. Is one of my peeves with the game. Either you make it so it's impossible to go 4-days (like above) or you're stuck with fresh relievers that can go 10-days straight.

Re: User pitcher fatigue?

with that Cordero sequence you mentioned -- at +45 pitcher fatigue you would still be able to pitch a fifth day in a row --- BUT at +45 you could not do 3 days straight of 20 pitches and not get shellac'd or risk injury; It's not great but it is a viable workaround to limit the pitches in one game and in a sequence of days; All EA needed was a recovery rate slider and realistic stamina numbers for the relievers...

ALSO -- I have not tried it with the CPU as I hack enough before they get to 10 pitches per inning --- LMK if someone tries it out
