Slider testing sucks

Ok EA flippin blew this one BIG time... i test my slders in either "play now" or exb games. NOT in dynasty or owner mode.

I dont like the idea that you have to test sliders while playing games that count for you. when you play a slider set in either play now or exb they are much easier than when you use them in dynasly mode.

Just for kicks this morning i tried out Gaints sliders for 3 games in exb mode. well I eon 2-3 games while getting blown out 12-4 in the middle game. both the other games were one run games and i got plenty of hits.

So i decide ok they seem pretty good so i take em and start a new chise and play not even a full game with them. I cant even hit the ball out of the outfield the hits were slower than in exb while hitting fastballs... it was a joke...

you should not have to sacrafice games that matter to test a slider set you would like to try... it is a joke. the sliders sholuld work the same exact way in non dynasty as in dynasty...for that matter, the game dif should not be any easier to play in play now or exb modes tahn it is in dynasty they should all play the exact same game not easier in non dynasy than in dynasty...

anyone have anythoughts on this?

oh and in the game well 6 ininngs i played giants sliders in a dynaasty game.. i gave up 6 runs and got only 2 hits...

Re: Slider testing sucks

perhaps its just one of those games where nothing goes your way. doesnt really halp when you dont even finish a game and decide its the sliders fault and not yours.

Re: Slider testing sucks

Why not test them in a dynasty that doesn't matter? Why would the dynasty have to matter? Or am I missing something here?

No im seriuos.. the game plays completely different on "play now" or "exb" than in dynasy mode.. on the same set of sliders... yeah im not a MVP vet like 99.9% of you all are bu still try playing your team on the sliders you use on exb mode and then go play the same thing on dynasty.. you WILL see the game is much harder than on the NON dynasty modes. it realy is and it shouldnt be for those of us that dont want to sacrafice season games while testing sliders...

i have a bad history of "over writing" seasons that i didnt mean too by having mulitple seasons goign at once.. yeah stupid move and not paying attention i get that.. but still i dont wnat to risk that... all im say8ing is the game should play the exact same no matter what mode yoiu are playing in...

Re: Slider testing sucks

Why not just test them in your dynasty without saving? That's what I do. I try adjusting sliders and play 2 or 3 games with them. If I feel good about them, I'll finally save my dynasty. If not, I just reset or turn off the PS2 and start with another set. And honestly, for me sliders are something that need to keep changing over the course of a dynasty. My skill level improves and I am using slider settings now that I would've thought impossible months ago.

Yeah, its not real exciting playing the same 2-3 games over & over again... I can't honestly say that I've seen a difference between dynasty & non-dynasty mode difficulty. I'm not saying you're wrong, its just I haven't played a non-dynasty game in a long time. After a while I made sure to always test sliders in my dynasty because I know my personnel and am comfortable with them. So I feel its a better test than playing with teams I rarely use.

Re: Slider testing sucks

lol actually he is absolutley right, there is some sort of issue with them loading in exhibition etc. You have to manual load them when you boot up the game before you play exhibition for them to work properly.

Strange but very true, I have been testing my sliders for a month now and picked up on that right away. I would make changes during games and like them and want to stick to them. Then later when booting up the game and going straight to exhibition I would notice the difference right off the bat (usually the power would seem outta whack)

After leaving the game and loading the options file it would not be an issue anymore.

Re: Slider testing sucks

Slider testing may suck, but once you find that perfect combination, this game is scary fun.

For example, I just finished a 21-inning 2-hour marathon, My Cubs vs. the Pirates...both teams combined to strike out an eye-popping 41 times...this coming after a game in which the scores were like 8-5 and 5-2. There is a method to this slider madness, and it's called PLAY ON PRO...BTW, I'm using a modified version of Giant's sliders.

Re: Slider testing sucks

I still fail to see why people tout one difficulty over another, that's retarded. If pro works for you, great, but don't talk like it's the end all solution.

The problem is sliders take a LOT of games before you know if they're any good for you. 2-3 games won't tell you anything. What I did was start a dynasty with pro (default) sliders, and the game was challenging enough for me. Then as I went along, things got too easy, so I tried some Pro slider sets and Heelfan's gave me a good challenge for the next 30-40 games. Then as it got a little easier, I moved to jistics all-star sliders, and while difficult at first, it slowly turned into a great challenge. Since then I've settled into a groove where I'm playing about .550 ball and it's great.

My first dynasty season is almost over, and as disheartening as it sounds, I think it took a whole season to reach the perfect challenge. Don't worry about messing up games that "count." When sliders start to get too easy and you win 15 games straight, that should counter your new and more difficult sliders when you go 3-15 getting better. Ultimately, use what works for you!

no i don't think you understood what i was saying. let me try again... im really bad at trying to explain things soo here goes...

the game AI while playing in either "PLAY NOW" or "EXBITION" modes using whatever slider set you usse the game plays EASIER on those levels OUTSIDE dynasty or owner mode then the game plays in owner mode or in dynasty.

for example say im playing the yankees in my dynasty so i want to play a practice game using the exact same pitchers that will be playing in that game. I load my same sliders that i use for dynasty on the same level for a practice game on exibition.

I play the game and have one out come. I then go and play the exact same game in my dynasty the game is MUCH harder in all aspects.

this is what i was refering tooo. i dont understand why they woul make the games AI easier to beat or whatever in NON dynasty/owners mode modes.

sorry if i confuse you even more im sorry but i know what im talking about in my head

and this is done im back playing on heels sliders again and having a blast. I've lost some and am getting a great deal of varied scores.... so im stcking with them right now

the only tweak ive made is taking his ball rate setting (=40) down to 0 due to the fact that i dotn take very many pitches.

Ive been playing on his sliders for about a few weeks now and am really happy.
