How do you update rosters on PS2 ?

I have always trusted finding updated rosters to download with my x-port and relied on others work.

Can someone tell me how people are able to input the previous season's stats ? For example, if you were to update rosters for the 2007 MLB season, how do you input 2006 real MLB stats ?

Can it be done on a PC, then transferred to a memory card or does it all have to be typed with your game controller ?

What about new players that have arrived on the MLB scene since the start of the 2005 season (when the last MVP was produced) Is there a way to utilize the face packs that the PC guys make ?

New Stadiums - like the new Busch ?
New schedules ?
Any knowledge on how to maximize keeping this game up to date would be appreciated. I'm not going to count on next year's new offerings for consoles to be ready to replace MVP. I'm an old High Heat fan, so I'm hard to please.
