If you're one of those people who demand strikes, you need to read this

Man oh man, I am getting sick of people who demand you throw them strikes. I mean look, I undertand wanting to play an all strikes game, especially when there are so many people online who throw pitches as far out of the zone as possible literall 3/4 of the time, those people are annoying to play against.

But there are a lot of people who dont get it, by this I mean:

There are situations you throw balls in. An 0-2 splitter for a strike is a bad pitch, for example.

You cant demand someone throw strikes in the middle of the game. I've had guys do things like throw all over the place all game and then in the last half of the last inning they'll bring up Pujols and demand you throw them strikes. If you want to play strikes you have to ask at the start of the game, if the person doesnt want to you, you know and then you can leave.

The last guy I played mad it impossible for me to pitch out. If I did he would see it and run back to the base. If I just tried psedo-pitchouts by throwing fastballs out of the zone he would get mad at me. Either do one or the other, but it's not fair to essentially demand your opponent be at the mercy of your baserunners.

Lastly, all strikes does not literally mean all strikes. Online, even with the tiniest of lag, it is hard to hit the green bar, so if you pitch around the edge of the zone, some pitches will be balls. Get over it, or else have both of you just throw it right down the middle every time. The same goes for pitches that are just way off. They show up out of the zone for Pete's Sake!!

Like I said I dont care how people play the game, but you have to give consideration to the other player.

I've played against these freakin whiners requesting ALL STRIKES !!! I say, make me throw you strikes by showing some patience at the plate. If someone is gonna hack at everything thrown, then I'm staying off the plate !!!!! I can gurantee you that if I'm walking batters, I'll start throwing more over the plate. Pitchers in real life throw off the plate trying to get a batter to chase a bad pitch. When playing the field, it's all about getting outs !!!!! I'll start an online game off by mixing up balls and strikes. But if I see that I'm playing against a hacker who's gonna swing at every dust particle blowing over home plate, i'll throw more balls and slip an occasional strike in here or there to really piss them off *hard core laughing*

I dont think this strategy is wrong. If they play smart, then I'll play smart and give them something to hit....simple as that :-)

Re: If you're one of those people who demand strikes, you need to read this

How about the guys who won't play with the headset, so you don't know what kind of a moron they are, who click the Pitch History thumbstick to show where that ball was you just threw? Hey di**head, I know where the ball was, that is right the fu** where I wanted to throw it.....I love the guys who type "All Strikes" in the message board in the game lobby.... I will usually follow with "How about all Hot Zones"...or "All down the middle?"
The bottom line is that All Strikes games are totally lame, and although I'll try to stay within the edges to keep the game moving, there are just sometimes that you HAVE to throw a ball. Period. Pujols at the plate, with EVERY zone lit up red for the hot zone?? That guy is not seeing a ball anywhere near those zones.... Low and away, low and away, in the dirt, behind the batter... Dude, I do not care, but PooHoles is not going to beat me because some 12 year old is screaming at me to throw strikes. Hey Junior, take a fu**ing pitch. And if you can't handle it, climb into your Yoda P.J's, snuggle up wih mommy, and play Super Mario Brothers. Stay the hell away from my Baseball game.

Re: If you're one of those people who demand strikes, you need to read this

Another thing I really hate is when people question your masculinity or call you a wuss because you throw a pitch out of the zone. It's like c'mon bro are you really going to call me a wuss because I beat you in a video game? I'm just waiting for the day the conversation goes like this:

"You threw me a ball, you're such a wuss!"
"What?"
"You're a P****, you threw me a ball"
"I just got back from 15 months in Iraq, complete with two purple hearts, and you're calling me a wuss because you swung at a bad pitch in a video game?" (or) "I'm a firefighter/police officer, and you're going to..." (or) "I'm a D-I football/hockey player and you're going to...", etc, etx
*embarassed silence*

I just do not understand how people can say some of the stuff they do w/o knowing who they're talking to. For example: I played a guy once who got on base with the first hitter. I then threw him two balls (one on purpose, one cause I missed); he goes to the chat thing and writes "MIC. ON. NOW." (which is weird cause it was) and so I say what's up and he goes "How you gonna be a f****** p**** like that?" It bothered me and offended me not because he said it to me, but because he doesn't know who I am, for all he knows I could 11 years old!

The worst are hypocrites though. I played a guy yesterday who threw plenty of balls - at one point he walked a hitter of mine on 4 pitches (not that I'm complaining, gets me a baserunner) and IMO I was throwing more balls than him, thought not all strikes. Then the next day (I logged off after it) I get a message from him "U *&$$#$, grow some balls" (my message back "Good game"). It's like hmm, bitter much buddy?

Yeah all strikes games suck...I mean you can have like 0-2 on Bonds/Dowd or Pujols or Vlad with a guy on third and Clemens on the mound and you expect me NOT to throw you a splitter out of the zone? C'mon now!

I take the same approach to you, I stay around the zone because those guys who throw literally 2/3 or their pitches all the way out of the zone are damn annoying, but I'm not going to play some B.S. where you can't pitch like an actual pitcher.

as long as you don't imply you throw all strikes. Throwing a couple balls per game only in jams is cowardly.

the best thing to do is join leagues. I ran 2 ps2 and an xbox league hosted over at maddennation.com - and in the rules it specifies the leagues are pitch at your own will (and no complaining allowed lol). Its real baseball. I absoutely love taking pitches and wearing the opposing pitchers down, as well as working batters intelligently (if they swing at everything, then theres no reason to throw strikes). But you're not going to find that playing random people/ranked games.

My first time online with this game today I got one of these guys. I thought it was lame. I humored him and even with me pitching strikes, he was losing! What an ***...he ended up quitting early.
