Apparently both Gil and Rockhold are injured and will not fight on this card.

I never say this about fighters but this is a bit shady. Gil and Rockhold know no matter what happens they are going to the UFC in the spring/summer 2013. They have no incentive to fight two guys in Healy and Larkin who offer no upside if they win. I wouldnt be surprised if their people suggested that they fake injuries to get out of this card.

Rockhold has been injury prone. He could get the benefit of the doubt. Melendez on the other hand, seems shady.

Cormier seems to have slightly changed his tune on a fight with Cain. Interesting.

Quote:
Cormier can't get through an interview without being asked about his campmate, Cain Velasquez, who will fight dos Santos for the UFC heavyweight title on Dec. 29. What happens if Velasquez wins the title, and Cormier heads over to the UFC as a top contender?
"My first UFC fight is going to be against Frank Mir regardless of what happens," Cormier said. "There's a lot of decisions to make. I think the UFC has made it pretty clear that Alistair Overeem is the guy they want to fight next for the belt, he was pretty close to getting a title shot before the suspension. There's some work to be done for Cain and myself before that actually becomes our reality. I could lose to Dion Staring, I could lose to Frank Mir afterwards, I could be 3-4 fights away from a championship, or I could win both of those fights and then we really have a conversation to have."

I like the way Cormier comes across when being interviewed. Cool dude, definitely a good representative for the sport. I hope he can continue to string these wins together. It'll be real interesting to see what direction his career goes when he moves to UFC.

Thing with Cormier is, he's a coach who can still perform with the elite of the world as a fighter. So his demeanor is awesome. He was ready to be an Olympian so he's got that ambassador's approach to things, the way he handles everything [specifically the tragedies in his life] with professionalism is admirable. It's a rare thing in pro sports. I just really like who he seems to be as a person. One of my favorite athletes.

He definitely proved me wrong I didn't think he would be anything special at this older age but he looks the part of a true contender. I think he deserves a shot against the very best in the UFC off the bat based off his skill and his resume.

If he can cut down to 205 without health issues I feel he can be even meaner.

I hope he can cut to 205. He would have a good chance to dethrone Jones imo if the weight cut goes well.

Lol... Interesting take.

Quote:
Stephie Daniels: You recently tweeted your irritation about the mass exodus of fighters from this card. What's your take on the whole situation? Do you think the injuries are real?

Tim Kennedy: Well, I don't know. Maybe they are, maybe they aren't. It's pathetic and convenient for every single marquee fighter in all of Strikeforce, that we all know to be going over to the UFC, are pulling out of their fights, two weeks before the final card. It's like, are you guys fighters, or are you just a bunch of little vaginas?

Stephie Daniels: Do you find it strange that guys that are out of their Strikeforce fights with injuries are calling out UFC fighters?

Tim Kennedy: The whole thing seems like a big bunch of horse ****. Yeah, I'm gonna call all these dudes out, because I'm a super tough fighter, this is MY hood, fight me, blah blah blah, oh wait, I hurt my wrist, and I'm gonna be going to the UFC, so I'm not gonna fight. I'm just gonna wait and fight somebody in the UFC. What? What just happened? Blech. Whatever.
