Thats complete bull****. He didnt fight for points when he completely obliterated Koscheck's eye. He didnt fight for points when he almost finished Fitch multiple times. He also didnt fight for points when he damn near subbed Hardy 3 times.

3 fights out of his career........where most of his career he did in fact fight for points. That was always the knock on GSP and in the beginning people hated the fact he became champion because many considered him to be a boring, win by points because I don't want to take any damage type of fighter.

Seriously, I sometimes doubt you actually have watched past UFC fights. Lets go down the list:

He won the belt off Hughes with a submission victory.
He submitted Hughes a second time.
He stopped Matt Serra
He almost finished Jon Fitch
He stopped BJ Penn

I already referenced the Hardy and Koscheck 2 fights that shouldve been stoppages.

Since 2007, He's had 2 or 3 fights you could argue he fought for points. Koscheck 1, Alves and Shields. Regarding Shields, he took an eyepoke and round 1 and could only see out of 1 eye for the rest of the fight.

I really dont know what the hell you are talking about because his past fights dont show a points fighter.

Most people see the string of decisions and figure GSP wasn't trying to finish. But in most of those fights, he aggressively got the takedown, and worked ground and pound, with guard passing, and submission attempts. Just because he wasn't successful, doesn't mean he didn't put the effort in.

I remember him twisting up Dan Hardy's arm something serious, but Hardy refused to tap.

and right after the fight the footage of GSP in the locker room figuring out what he did wrong with his jiu jitzu guru - he was saying the kimura he needed the opponents arm a bit more bent which would cause more shoulder pain.

Also as Aholbert's post was on point - even in the Alves fight he really messed him up bad as you can see in post fight pictures. He really sapped the life out of him in that fight.

I was disappointed in the Shields fight only from all of his fights. Even in that fight he starting winging a few right hands trying too hard. That fight I thought we'd see GSP really eff him up all standup but it didn't happen.
