Maniacmatt, what's your gt? I'd like to play you.
mattman1228, a lot of people link their gt on this site, see the little xbox symbol under peoples avatars, you can click that, and get their GT's if they put it in their profile. But send me a friend request 0 H u n t 3 r

Sometime you just know when an opponent is gonna try to transition, so you try the reversal.
I do same thing.

Against "so so" guys on the ground. The moment it hits the mat if they looking to transition out rather than grab the back the head. Well I know it will be a long day for him. I can achieve reversals on these types of guys in the 60 to 70% success range. They become easy wins on the ground.

Against a "good" guy on the ground. If they are delaying transitions and working at a slower pace then I can normally get a couple throughout a match. But it will be a tough equal match.

Against a "great" ground player. Well like Matt said, I don't even look for reversals very often because you are going to end up in back situations on the ground. If they are faking passes, and stalling on the pass you are going to flick for the reversal and THEN they will pass on you all day. Better to just hold on and look for light strikes from the ground, while working your own stalled transitions timing his openings to pass. This becomes a slow SLOW SLLLLLLOOOOWWWW match on the ground. You are talking 2, 3, 4 mins on the ground with very very little work being done. These have been some of my most fun matches, because it starts to truly FEEL like a real MMA match.

Of course like Matt said, feel is huge also. Sometimes I can just "feel" what he is thinking and about to do and go for the reversal. How the match is flowing, the pace of it, etc.

I guess I missed smth, sorry ! but how do you stall/fake a transition. I know what transitions are obviously but I don't really know how to fake them so maybe some body can just say what bottoms to press please.

You need a Mic when you spar with me, but faking and stalling a transition is the same. You start a transition, but hold it there and then move for a stalled transition, or let go for a fake transition. You can only do this with pro controls. Amateur controls are begging to be reversed.

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 3 Impressions Thread

I just picked UFC 3 up over the weekend. Played around 40 matches since Saturday night on mostly Advanced/Sim (Experienced way too easy). I'm really enjoying myself so far. The main issue I'm having is dealing with the striking game versus the cpu. I'm a big boxing fan and I'm beastly when it comes to boxing in Fight Night and was good in UFC 2010, but I keep getting caught by the cpu. It's like they time everything perfectly. If I throw a high kick, they automatically counter and "rock me". I've been feinting with leg kicks and following with strong punches and that's worked a lot. But I don't wanna live off of just that. Also it doesn't help that I don't really follow the UFC and only know the main guys like Jones, Silva, Rampage, Faber etc. So I know nothing about the Pride guys and the less popular characters and how they should be used. Hell I only learned what a transition is thru playing these games. Anyway I'm really enjoying the game and hope to get better by studying my videos after each match.

thanks man, i kind of figured out how to do it now, just need to learn how to make use of it in actual fights. that will be the next step!
and yes using amateur controls shouldnt be an option for any serious ufc 3 gamer.

for the faked transitions to be successful you have to play against a pretty good opponent right? I tyred it in some online matches against some rather unexperienced and less skilled players and they couldn't care less abt what I tried.. at least that was my impression.

how is it when playing against the computer?

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 3 Impressions Thread

Less skilled is a bad choice of words. There are some scrubs who do nothing but go for reversals. Stalling transitions is a way to avoid reversals. If someone isn't trying reversals, there is no real reason to stall your transition.

ahh that makes sense. finally I'm starting to understand the whole concept! I haven't met many opponents that were trying to reverse me actually. must be some advanced kind of cheeser lol
