This is developing into a pretty stacked UFN. Could be almost as good as UFN 13.

He's pretty popular with the fans and the previous Fight Night's he's been a part of have done good ratings, so it makes sense from a business standpoint. From a contender's standpoint, no, this fight doesn't make a lot of sense.

Its not like Diaz will get a title shot if he wins. Maynard gets another win over a well known fighted if he wins and that puts him in line for the Sanchez/Penn winner. If he loses, then the Guida/Florian winner probably gets a shot.

Right - but why not put a contender vs a contender? Instead of a contender vs a guy who's only won 1 of his last 3 fights.

The problem is what other contender who could headline a Fight Night is available in January. Guida and Florian arent. Edgar isnt. Griffin isnt. Sherk is injured. Diaz is really the only person with a name available.
