Should I make the 360 to PS3 switch for The Show?

As we all know, the MLB 2K series is ending. Being a 360 gamer for the last 5 years, this is a hard decision. I'm a die hard sim sports gamer. I play Madden, NBA 2k, MLB 2K yearly. So losing the MLB 2k is a deal breaker for me. This would mean switching to a ps3, which is a big investment for me. Basically, i'm asking a couple of questions:

How are the roster and slider editing communities?

How is The Show overall compared to 2k?

Is it a good game for someone looking for as accuarte realism as one could hope for from a video game?

Thanks guys, opinions welcome!

IMHO, The Show is the best sports game on the market. I made the switch five years ago and don't regret it at all.

I use the stock rosters, but Knight's roster set is legendary around here. So if you're looking for good rosters, yeah, you're covered. There's plenty of great slider sets out there as well.

The best there is (that I'm aware of). Year round support, knowledgeable edits based on real data, pure awesomeness, etc.

Remember where you are when you ask this. It's very subjective. Though I will say that I think this series' noteriety speaks for itself. And it's all true. The hype is real.

Realism is what The Show strives for. Let's put it this way: When the most frequent complaint I come across is that "The Show is TOO real," I think that speaks volumes in itself.

There are some quirks, certainly. It's not perfect. But once you find an appropriate difficulty and interfaces (finding a good balance of hardness and ease, being able to minimize your SO's when hitting, and finding a way to throw BB's when pitching, over coming the learning curve, etc) you will roll.

Oh. And welcome to the boards.

Re: Should I make the 360 to PS3 switch for The Show?

Roster editing community is arguably the best of any sports game on the market. A lot of that opinion is based on the sheer amount of time that has to go into rosters for a baseball game (considering how vast the farm systems are).

There is almost always a good selection of slider sets for every type of gamer, from the greenhorns to the Albert Pujols' of MLB the Show.

As far as realism I think MLB the Show with the right sliders does better than any other sports game on the market. About the only thing that becomes an issue is sometimes there seems to be more homeruns than usual but it ends up balancing itself out through the season.

Overall I'd say either swap to the PS3 or if you wanted to wait, E3 may have more info on the next gen of consoles and might be able to gauge a better idea of when it will come out in comparison to the usual release dates for the major sports games.

I'd say that the MLB the Show franchise is the most fun I ever have with the sports games each year. I've already gone through 1 full 162 game season and now nearing the end of April in season 2. With all of the other games (Madden, NBA 2k, NCAA) I can hardly bring myself to finish 2 seasons (and they are MUCH shorter seasons than in a MLB game).

One thing i am also worried about is switching control schemes. How is the pitching mechanism? and Fielding and hitting in your alls mind? And thank you, i've been looking around, and it seems pretty promising. What all does knight edit in his rosters?

I am Xbox 360 owner : I been coveting the Show forever so I finally I asked for a PS3 for my birthday this past November just so I could play the Show, I have never looked back , it's amazing and just darn fun to play !!!

BTW : Nothing beats owning both systems, they both have something to offer, so don't get rid of your Xbox 360 just get a PS3 for the Show as well, you will be glad you did.

The Show has control schemes and approaches to the game to satisfy all types of baseball console gamers. The beauty of this game is it keeps evolving while at the same time keeping all the control options available for anyone who just likes the classic and timed approach to pitching and hitting.

If you want the best baseball console sim ever made....it's a no brainer. Pick up a PS3 and grab the Show 12.

It is the clear class of sports games (along with NBA2K11).

I prefer to ONLY hit and pitch (meaning I do not field).

And even with that, I use the Classic pitching interface and Timing Only hitting interface. I remove myself from the equation as much as possible to let player ratings do the talking.

But that's the beauty of this game. The next guy to post in here probably will use Analog plus Zone hitting (hard!), and field on Legend and blah blah blah...

There's plenty of options to go around.

This sounds great. Sounds like exactly what i am looking for, over at the 2k board we had a great editor MKharsh, who did everything you could do with the game to make it playable. He just left the boards because he got burnt out on editing, so now the community is falling apart. Could someone just sum up Knight's rosters. And does he provide sliders

Knights rosters are worked on by multiple users across the forum, including myself. They are 100% real, meaning every player is a real player of that organization. The faces are almost always spot on and realistic.

As for sliders, check out live's and my slider project. I think you'll find more depth in that thread than any 2k12 slider thread. We have a slider set for every difficulty.

Enjoy
