RTTS SP Defense

No matter what I do to sliders, the CPU defense behind me while I pitch in RTTS is truly horrific.

I've had three straight games where I've given up a few unearned runs or had innings extended by 10 pitches because of an error. The game I am currently playing I gave up 3 unearned runs in the 2nd inning on 2 errors by the 3rd baseman.

That compared with some downright drunk home plate umpiring seems to put me behind the eight ball in the majority of my starts. I am winless in 5 starts at AAA Toledo and I haven't given up more than 3 ER or gone less than 6 innings in a start.

Am I missing something here? This is All-Star and I've been tweaking fielding sliders every which direction to no use.

Happens to me all the time. Right not I am 10-6 with a 1.65 ERA 0.79 WHIP in something like 28 starts (This must be what Dempster feels like?). And that is the best year I have ever had. If i remember from '11 once you made the majors the fielding gets way better but never truly great. Just something you have to deal with. I also maybe get one or two blow outs a year when I pitch. It is almost always 1-3 run games.

A game after that post, I was called up to the majors for long relief. Pitched well, actually got 2 wins in relief. But then got sent down and ended the season with 4 straight starts of 6 innings, 4 ER total, 20 K, 2 BB.... and I lost 2 and took a ND in the other 2. Got 0 runs of support in 3 games and 1 in the other.

The funny part about these games is that I left games at 0-0, 0-0 down 3-0, down 1-0. I took L's in the final two. Final scores: 7-5, 9-8. Guess they just needed me to leave to score.

Oh my favorite is when you are dealing and its like inning 5 or 6, up by 5 runs, and you have a couple mistakes and let a couple guys get on and the pull you even though you have only thrown like 70 pitches. The lovely AAA bullpen comes in and gives up the lead and the game is lost? I wish you could talk to the manager on a mound visit and you can say I got his guy, let me clean up my own mess.

Re: RTTS SP Defense

To the OP , this is exactly the reason I quit creating a SP for the RTTS due the the play behind you especially in AA and AAA sometimes isn't much better. I go with a 1st baseman or the in outfield somewhere which is much more satisfying yet just as frustrating hitting the ball as it is to pitching with errors behind you. So , I guess you pick your poison and live with it , it goes with the game of baseball where nothing is perfect.

Re: RTTS SP Defense

I have had the worst luck in the majors. The defense is shaky. Or I'll be rolling, give up a few hits and get taken out only to have the bullpen let my runs in and I grab a loss. I'm 0-5 on the year.

The worst part came in a game I just finished. I am a reliever with the big league club. I came in the game in the 7th, down 4-2. The Tigers tied it in the bottom half 4-4. And I went on to pitch SEVEN shutout innings in relief, 2 H, 4 K, 0 BB. Only to get pulled in the 14th and then the team scored that inning. So no win for me.

Just ridiculous.
