Couple more questions from a Newbie...

New questions...
  1. Which window is the best one to use when sending players up/down? The only one I can find that seems to work is the Manage Roster screen, but that one seems a little cumbersome.
  2. For spring training, do I need to set my 40-man roster before I start spring training? Is that how I determine who participates in spring training?

1) No
2) I believe you can. I run my franchise under 30 team control so I'm not really sure if I'm right or not.

Enjoy the game.

For #1 you can't edit the contract but you can give him an extension, I believe. Just pile on more years and more money

Or before you do that you could jot down his attributes, edit him and make him terrible, sign him to a big long (cheap) contract, then edit him back to his original attributes... Or just give him/you the contract he well you deserve, lol...

To touch on #2 if you do not have 30-team control you cannot edit the trades the CPU offers you. BUT you jot down or remember who they wanted and offer THEM a trade with those guy/guys and pick the the players you want. More often than not they will accept these trades. I do it all the time.

I can't believe I didn't think of that.

Thanks!

Re: Couple more questions from a Newbie...

i use the manage roster screen, but i break it down per position. when i get what i feel i need for my lineup and rotation then i look at 25 roster limit and if im over or under. then i make the final decision and see what i need to sacrifice at each level of the organization.

and you are right about spring training. just set your 40 man roster. read up on the rule 5 draft and make sure you dont lose anyone stupidly because you forgot to put them on the 40 man roster before they are eligible for the draft.

Thanks.

Is there any easy way to determine if someone's Rule 5 elgible (e.g. a star, an asterisk, a checkmark), or do I simply need to pay attention to their service years/years with the club?

Re: Couple more questions from a Newbie...

none that i know of. then again once you set your 40 man. you will only change it when you trade, make cuts, or people retire. so i wouldnt imagine it being hard to keep up with. just take mental note when you draft someone to leave them off the 40 man for a year or two, unless you are really thin depth wise and they can make an immediate impact.
