Sabathia coming out of the Yankees pen in my franchise...

So I chased the starter Nova who is like their 8th guy on the depth chart and who comes in but CC.

I am 40 games into the season and he has 4 starts and this appears to be his only relief appearance. Could this just mean he was hurt and they are conditioning him back?

Re: Sabathia coming out of the Yankees pen in my franchise...

I just think the game has horrible bullpen AI.

I was playing a game against the Angels and CJ Wilson was throwing a no hitter against me into the 7th inning. The Angels were winning 5-0 and he only had like 59 pitches. He gives up ONE HIT and then the CPU takes him out.

Move along to the 9th inning and I've gotten the score to 5-3. The CPU does NOT bring in the closer in the 9th. I get a hit. CPU changes pitchers. I get an out. CPU changes pitchers AGAIN. I make the 2nd out and then the CPU finally brings in the closer to record the save.

I don't understand the bullpen logic in the game. The game has far too quick of a hook for pitchers and I rarely see the game bring in their closer against me when I am losing in the 9th within 3, and then to use 3 pitchers in the 9th to get 3 outs before bringing in the closer?

Crazy.

THIS

Do you know how many inning these players have played in previous games? Maybe it's just a resting strategy.

I'm feeling the opposite. I feel, that the AI leaves the pitchers in the game for too much. I just can't get the 3 inning out the starter trophy, even when I lead 6-0 in the 2nd inning.

I think the AI uses the bullpen ok. There is an issue however when a bullpen becomes overly fatigued. Pitchers will be brought in, then it's as if the AI realizes this guy is too tired from previous outings, so it turns to the next guy.

The issue with C.C. coming in was probably just because the entire bullpen was gassed. I think the only remedy in these situations is to bump up the reliever stamina slider. The problem with doing that from the start is that the AI will probably leave relievers in too long at the start of a season.

I'm hopeful the devs can work on this in the future.

I've seen just the opposite - in two seperate games the CPU has let the starting pither throw 140 pitches against me because he was in the midst of a shutout.

Have you guys tried to adjust the manager hook slider?

happened to me but it was in the final week of the season. I chased Billingsly out of the game and they brought in Kershaw.

Yeah I haven't had anything like this. I actually have the manager hook raised, and I never see pitchers pulled when they shouldn't be, or wacky substitions like that.

I think the issue with Sabathia or another starter coming in only happens when everyone in the bullpen is tired or it is a long extra inning game.

Sometimes a previous extra inning game or a stretch where a team doesn't have a day off could cause it as well.

In the end it's going to have a lot to do with the sliders each person has or the way they play. I would imagine those that play in games with less pitches overall would not have the problem as much. The more pitches on average in a game, the more likely you will see fatigue issues.
