I'm kind of in a quandry myself right now. I'm about to start game 15 of the ten years, but I looked at the pitching stats after my last game (I was still using Pulse) for the season, and I've only issued 9 BB in 14 games. So, it is looking like I either have to switch to Classic or drop the Consistency (I currently have it at 4.)

Heroes and I had discussed that in another thread (the BB issue) so since I was already posting about yours, how do you combat it? I guess if you were simming 5 at a time it wouldn't matter as much -- but again, I don't remember.

Thanks, Ben!

EDIT: And holy hole in a donut, man -- Tigers got Greinke AND Garza to go with Verlander and Fister? That's filthy, unfair, and quite probably illegal.
Yeah, the Tigers have sunk a ton of money into their current team. The problem is, they have almost none left. Still, most of their guys are still young enough that it won't be an issue for a few years.

As to your question. I play on All-Star pulse, and have CPU contact at 4, but CPU solid hits at 7, and pitching consistency down at 4. One of two things could be going on. 1) With CPU Solid Hits at 7, I really have to nibble at the corners. I've noticed that the CPU has about a 60% contact rate when the ball isn't on the corner, or touching the outside of the plate. So I have to really try and hit my spots, or I get slammed. As you can imagine, this leads to walks. 2) I'm just not good at pulse pitching. This could be it, I'm not sure. But pitching has been much more of an issue than hitting for me. I have recorded stats of my played game (I played a total of 38 last year), so here are some averages (rough estimates, as I don't have a calculator)...

BB/9: 4.5
ERA: 4.02 (team average was well below 4.00)
HR/9: 2.0 (I always get hit with at least one bomb a game. Don't know why)
SO/9: Around 7.0

The lower CPU contact helps with SO's, and the higher Solid Hits seems to help with BB's. I'm not sure if this would help with your situation, but you could always give it a test run. Also, you could try turning down CPU contact, and also turning down Human Accuracy on pitches (thats what the game recommends in the slider menu).

Update:
  • Just a couple quick notes before I do a bigger update tonight.
  • I'm 7-4, .5 games behind the Braves.
  • Ryan Howard broke his shin and is out 1-2 months. Not good, especially consider I reallly have no one to put in his place. My lineup was already weak.
  • One possible move I have toyed with is a surging Joe Blanton (3.60 ERA last year, no attribute regression to speak of) for an older Michael Young, who recently signed a deal with the Twins. Given the Twins need for SP (they have Valencia at 3B already), and my need for a corner infielder, it seems like the perfect trade.
  • Once Howard gets back, I'd simply move Young back over to 3rd.
  • My team ERA sits at 3.36.
  • Halladay has started off the year with a 4.67 ERA. Time to panic?

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Just got swept by the Nationals on the road in my DBacks franchise, leaving me a full game behind the Rockies and I'm starting to look at making some moves. Trevor Bauer is on a hot streak absolutely dominating down in AA, and I'm thinking it's time he joined the big leagues. Both Hudson and Saunders are struggling in my rotation, but I have faith in Hudson so I need to figure out how to get rid of Saunders. I also need to get rid of Lyle Overbay, as he's been flat out horrible. Due to Goldschmidt's time on the DL, Overbay has been my starter at first base, and he's been batting on the interstate all year. The trouble is, I like having a left handed option at 1B and I dont really have many replacements I could promote from within, so that might just buy him some time. Off to NY for a 3 game set with the Mets, praying for a win.

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Lost to the Rox to open a three game set. 4-12 right now. Offense is the big problem. Only McCutchen and Jose Morales are hitting over .250. Lowest Era in the league but not enough run support.

Here's the game recap. Please comment if you like, don't like.... etc.

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Playing my fantasy draft Angels team and in the 2nd game of the season Tommy Joseph came up huge. Down 3-4 in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs he doubled into the gap then scored on a Peter Bourjos single, then in the bottom of the 11th he hit a 2-run walk-off homer to win it 6-4. I am quite excited to see what he does through the season.

*side note* Probably the most annoying game I've ever played in the show due to the fact that the Royals had Joe Smith, Brad Ziegler, and Pat Neshek all pitch during the game and I cannot read/hit side-arm pitchers to save my life.

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

About a month into my Pirates Franchise, and we are 5-17. Team BA of around .220 and a team ERA of around 4.00. Traded a few prospects for JP Arencibia and when that kid hits the ball, it goes far. He has 4 HRs so far, all with my team since I got him about 2 weeks ago in the game. He is only hitting .230 though, but thats to be expected with such low contact. McCutchen is only hitting .265 with 0 HRs and 4 RBIs. Hopefully he gets it going because I always feel "pressured" to et a hit with him when he comes to bat because he really needs to produce if we want to win regularly. McLouth is leading the team in average at .305, and Jp also has the most RBIs with 11. Burnett has a 5.50 ERA and Bedard fractured his arm. Our best pitcher to this point has been Karstens with around a 3.00 ERA. I have Gerrit Cole in AAA and he is tearing it up with a 2.25 ERA and is 2-1. Taillon is in AA and is 1-2 with a 3.65 ERA , but he did just toss a complete game, 1 hit, 10 strikeout shutout. Also, traded my top catching prospect behind JP to the Angels along with a pitching prospect for Garrett Richards on the Angels. He is 3-1 with a 2.10 ERA and has been outstanding. Our struggles in the MLB have been with the bats, as Tabata, Walker, Alvarez, and Jones are hitting either near .200 or below it. I still want to try and make a move for a big bat. Overall, the team has a lot of holes so far and I'm going to need to be patient if I want to develop this team into a contender.

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

I am already to June 11th in my season playing every game but 2. I am playing as the White Sox and I am about 18 games under .500. I traded Jake Peavy, AJ, Adam Dunn, Gavin Floyd, and a few older "prospects" for some young A and B potential prospects.
My team cannot hit. The highest average is about .260 from Viciedo. I score probably 1 to 4 runs every game. I am only playing on veteran for hitting and still can't hit worth anything. I have never done this bad ever in and MLB game, I am not sure what is going on. Is it just me or does everyone have this problem with below average teams on this game?

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

I have always played RTTS for years and this is the first time i actually tried the franchise and i love it! My Yankees were at the Angels last night and we go into the 9th down 5-3. With two outs we draw a walk and a couple of hits to push it to 5-4. Ibanez walks and Swisher who already K'd 3 times works a 3-2 count, sits fastball and BANG! Grandslam! We win it 8-5. This game is just sick!
