Gameplay/Presentation for MLB12

This is it - Here's your chance to express your concerns on anything that you want to see improved/added in these areas for next year's game.

I (and others) will be taking an early sneak peek at MLB12 (can't say when) and will be able to communicate any concerns/changes the community would like. I have my own list as well.

As always, constructive comments are welcome.

Re: Gameplay/Presentation for MLB12

A Playoff/World Series mode as well as a MLB Today feature would be great additions.

Re: Gameplay/Presentation for MLB12

Right now we have the ticker that shows other franchise game results...maybe if the announcers could read off some of the scores...they don't even have to go into detail, but just mention "And it's 4-2 in Detroit, with the Whitesox leading the Tigers". This may be a lot more difficult than I think to implement, but figured I'd throw it out.

This may be more of a long term project, but under presentation settings have a "real camera angles" option which would then only use camera angles in replays that you would see on a real telecast

By the way, congrats on getting the opportunity, I think it's a testament to how great, and beneficial the Community Day's have gone in the past

Re: Gameplay/Presentation for MLB12

Is there any collision detection in this year's game?
Is the defense improved or altered so it is possible to make a diving catch or jumping catch in the outfield?
Has the commentary been improved or have some new lines been added?

Re: Gameplay/Presentation for MLB12

Gameplay - less computer generated animations/CPU take over. I know they look good and they have made some changes recently. But I still see to many routine grounders were the CPU takes over and takes 2 or 3 steps before they will through the ball and the runner is safe. Also, with fly balls I've seen several where the CPU takes over and I get some crazy looking attempt at make the catch. Even though my guy is standing there waiting for it and then it lands right beside him.

Presentation - maybe some new overlays but most importantly all I would change is better celebrations for everything. First MLB hit, win, HR, etc. And most definitely Division title, Wild Card clincher, Playoff Victories and some sort of crazy World Series championship.

Re: Gameplay/Presentation for MLB12

Playoffs need to be a significant ramp up in atmos/commentary from regular season games.

Needs to be more horizontal and vertical movement on some pitches i.e. too many pitchers throw gunbarrel straight fastballs in this game when its far rarer in reality.

Fielding improvements = less pump faking and taking 2/3 steps to throw to first when its going to be a tight play, needs to be pick up and gun it.

Im guessing this isnt a thread for nitpicking about bugs etc but the old ones such as error on ball 4 in the dirt/pitcher confidence not saving on in game saves really need never to be seen again.

Announcers dialogue should flow far more naturally, its too canned at the moment, need more back and forth convo.

New menu systems/graphics - these ones we have have been pretty much the same for way too long, gone stale now.

In game overlays, too cartoony video game looking if you get me, need to be sharper and far more professional looking.

Show more stats during at bats i.e. batter hitting .342 v lefties, or only hitting .193 with RISP etc, way too few stats in this game

More to come as i think about it.

I know you will do your best to convey what you can Pared, thanks.

Re: Gameplay/Presentation for MLB12

I would love a way to customize the presentation options, i.e. turn off replays in broadcast mode, enable cutscenes in fast play, skip the throw back to the pitcher in broadcast, etc. Generally I use fast play just because I don't have 60+ minutes to devote to a game all the time, but I can't help but feel like I'm missing out.

more stats between pitches & batters like :

- when speedy guy reach 1st:
Stealing/caught stealing stats
- can alternate with catcher stats or mentioning how the guy have a real strong arm
- with RISP, have batter or pitcher efficiency in this situation
- instead of having upper ticker to display weather or last 10 games record for a team, use a broadcast like display.
- Same for things like : Pedroia entering game with 8 games hitting streak. Extend it to things like: CC Sabathia having 4 wins since all-star break or No ER in his last 15 pitched innings.
- same stats display in realtime mode
- or at least an option in Broadcast mode to turn auto replay off. Very annoying. With replay to off I suggest to have a little icon displayed in a cor ner if a replay is available. That way just pressing a key and you see it

a bit more emotion from guys on the field.
- pitchers already have some and I'm sure they'll keep adding to it
- some animations for catchers between pitches for cooling down the pitcher if things are not going well. Sometimes they walk midway to the pitching mound with gestual saying it's ok, keep it low, don't push too hard.
- some more animations too for 1st baseman. After big outs or a good throw to 1st they need to look a bit more enthusiastic. On the last out of the inning, having them tagging the base different ways and without hesitation heading to the dugout. (somtimes they freeze a sec )
- the cut-off man on some plays look a bit robotic.
- having runners with a bad BR ability to sometimes hesitate, slip or even fall when trying for extra base ( can happens to everybody once in a while). Maybe wet dirt can influence

Re: Gameplay/Presentation for MLB12

I'll jump in.....only because I'll forget when I'm there......

When the playoff start in the first couple of AB's the regular season stats should be displayed.
There should also be mention of the regular season stat(s) during the playoffs as well(say if a guy was the HR leader or leader in wins .....etc)

On the same note......when a new season begins....there should be a mention of a players previous years finish in stats for the first few games.

M.K.
