Re: Hitting and your TV

I'm frustrated as I cannot find game mode on my sharp aquos. perhaps it's beacuse i'm using hdmi, I have no idea. Online play the ball was so off I would swing as the ball hit the mit and was 'too early'

edit:finally found game mode, I'll try it again later!

I have an Elite Kuro plasma and it is outstanding for movies but I hate gaming on it. I love gaming on the LED from samsung

Brighter picture is always key for games which rely on color vibrancy.

Most LED's today that are top of the line are just as good as the top of the line plasmas in terms of black levels.

Plus plasma's still suffer from image retention, not as bad as years past but still an issue on some
I'd be willing to bet my colors are richer than my roomates $2k samsung. I get a more natural image than a cartoony bright one. And image retention is a non factor on newer samsungs. I seriously sometimes game all day and never have a single problem. You are right though, if you want a very bright picture and color, LCD is the way to go, but saying colors ain't as rich is just silly. And contrast ratio blows them out of the water.

Resolution for gaming? If you are gaming on a ps3, almost all of them are in 720p, so I'm not sure what you are talking about there. And game mode on a LCD still can't touch plasma's imput lag. I know there are a few models out there that test really well, but in general no. Some games this isn't a big deal as a average LCD will get the job done. But playing shooters, it's a huge deal.

Even with game mode on I realize there is still some lag and choppiness, likely the fault of the game design.

How many companies still make plasmas? exactly.

Like I said, the plasma gives a natural image and black colors are the best but many LED's are almost just as good.

But we are talking about gaming, gaming is suppose to be played in a bright screen which makes the colors pop. Is not a movie, it is a video game.

I have both plasma and led. Is not like I am not informed of the advantages and disadvantages of each.

I prefer to play my VIDEOGAMES on an LED/LCD tv over a plasma.

I am not trying to get a natural image on my VIDEOGAMES. I do for my MOVIES

You might never have had image retention but others have. That is not an issue on LED tv's or LCD tv's

Who the heck cares if games are 720p or not. Games are scaled to the image resolution of said TV.

I want my movies to have the warm colors and natural color accuracy of a Plasma. Nothing like it

I want my VIDEO GAMES to have color vibrancy and brightscreen.

This is coming from somebody who has an Elte Kuro plasma and I hate playing games on it

I really don't think its the game...it's pretty smooth here.

As I mentioned above, I have a 4 year old Samsung LCD TV in my bedroom that I can't play MLB on, even with "Game Mode" activated. The lag is just too much to deal with.

Turn the HDMI 1 in your tv to PC mode when connecting via HDMI and this should help.

But it has to be HDMI only and in older hdtv's from Samsung it requires 1080p outsource from the game

Yeah, believe me, I've tried everything. Unfortunately that TV only supports 720p/1080i so I can't exploit that work around.

It's a sharp aquos lc46d85u. Set to game mode and connected via hdmi. I forgot to note before, this is only during online play. I see very little issue during my offline play. Thus why I laid the blame on the game.
