Re: Do you guys normally wait for OS full minors

I definitely wait. And despite what others may say, I just started Season 2 of my Yankees franchise with Knight & Co's roster. This year it won't be too hard to wait. I'll play an exhibition game with every team in every stadium, trying to get used to the analog controls and making some early slider adjustments. I'll also be trying to get the perfect outfield camera for facing right-handers and left-handers. With the new RTTS system I might try that out too as I wait for the final rosters. Also, with the new player vault this season, I'll be working on the Yankees farm system. So if I want a couple guys there that don't happen to come with the roster set, I'll be able to swap them in quick.

Re: MLB 11 The Show Community Day Impressions (Invitees ONLY)
Part III
Odds and Ends

I'm going to complete my write up with some random impressions.

The Player Vault
This one is going to revolutionize roster editing in some ways.
As you guys know...in the past, the roster needed to be worked on as a whole...with only one person being able to work on it at one time. That really won't be the case any longer. While only one PLAYER can be worked on at a time now.....They can be shuffled from one editor to another...and then finally all imported onto one roster when complete. So in essence...if you got 30 guys together each able to work on a different teams players....and then send them to one central editor in the group...you could have a roster completed in 1 or 2 days.
Also...don't like my Bryce Harper...but love the rest of my set?....you can simply swap him out with a Bryce Harper from another editor...or you can mix and match players from many different editors throughout the world as you simply can go into the Player Vault now and find whatever player you like....from whomever you like and import him onto your base roster.
You'll be able to sort the list in the Vault by...
Player Name
Date uploaded
Creator
# of downloads
rating of download
Historical/Current/Fantasy
...and I checked....the sorting works!
For those that love "All Time" or "Greatest Player" rosters...this is your dream. You'll be able to download any player you like(as long as someone creates and uploads him) now...no longer being tied into who the creator decided to put in.
I'm sure you'll see concurrent season rosters now to being more prevalent ...as someone is bound to start just adding players for say....1987...after someone already has done 1986...then you just swap them out.
Unfortunately.....one thing that did not make it in.....was the ability to swap players in existing franchises. WE WERE CLOSE!!! to getting it though. That REALLY would have been the ultimate. But Kolbe had to scrap it just two weeks ago. It caused some serious bugs....there is a good chance we see it next year perhaps though!
Now...the Vault can only be used for generated players. So you can't upload Derek Jeter(unless you create a new one)....but ANY player on ANY TEAM can be swapped out. There is no restrictions on that end. So you can remove every real player from your rosters....and go with a pure fantasy set(all gen players...ala some other text baseball game)....All A potential guys...or any combo. In this way..you can also get the FA list ENTIRELY correct..(not directly...move guys to a team and swap them), so there will be some pretty exact rosters to choose from this year.
While I can't elaborate on this....just know....the team from SCEA is already planning some AWESOME additions to the Vault(s) for the future. I don't want to get you thinking of '12 already...but WOW!(sorry boys...had to do it you were probably better off not thinking about it...but...). My point is...this team doesn't just say "enough"...and they know their ****....
The P.V. is an A+ addition.

This will make getting the OS minors out a lot faster this year. I also play all aspects of the game before the rosters come out(franchise,rtts,etc.). As soon as the Os minors come out I start my franchise for the year. They are well worth the wait if your one who wants to make it as authentic as possible. They have no effect on anything. They are just names to the PS3.
The new ways to edit rosters are going to be a great new feature for MLB 11.

Re: Do you guys normally wait for OS full minors

Yup, I typically do wait for full minors. I'll play a fantasy draft franchise until they drop, as I know i'll be playing as the Sox after the full minors set drops. Fantasy draft lets me play with guys I otherwise wouldn't.

Like has been said though, they should be out sooner with the player vault this year. Not saying they WILL be, as it's still a long, difficult process, but there is a good chance they will be out earlier.

I play a ton of practice games to get settings where I want. By then the rosters are close to being ready.

Re: Do you guys normally wait for OS full minors

I try, but I always end up just stealing some random BA Top 100 roster someone posts online. And then my dynasty crashes and burns (for unrelated reasons haha)

I actually like Knight's rosters better for RTTS anyways...I'd rather play against real players in the minors. Outside of the top prospects its not like I'm going to see a lot of prospects in the majors in my dynasty anyways.

With the changes to roster editing this year......full minors may only take a week or two

I always play exhibition games and wait for Full Minors - it's worth it

Re: Do you guys normally wait for OS full minors

Thank you guys(whether you wait or not!)....
I definitely need my real minor leaguers...both in how they are rated and how they look.
Like it has been stated a few times here already ...the Vault will give us working on the O.S.F.M. a much quicker turn around.
I've always gotten and used a LOT of info from the guys here on the site. Very good info...most of these guys know these teams very well.
Now....we'll be able to take it a step further and actually have multiple people creating players(we'll work out the potentials ahead of time)....doing some faces....etc...and I'll basically just be putting them together.
I've always considered the O.S.F.M. a community roster(not mine)...and this year ...that will be truer than ever!

M.K.

I might be wrong here, but wasn't Knight's roster done right before opening day this past season?
