Jersey Corrections/Omissions/Additions for '09

I hope that they allow the user to select the jerseys during season / franchise modes. Also allow the user to select the CPU jerseys as well..

I want all of these fixes as well but don't they tell us year in and year out that they follow a strict MLB guide and cannot divert from it in any way?

Edit: I see others have mentioned this as well... Just hoping people don't come in here ranting when things may not have changed.

Edit Edit: SCEA You guys have to fix the "shine" names and numbers have on the back of jerseys, that drives me nuts..lol they look like those cheap jersey T-shirts..

Again, though, the style guides aren't entirely accurate. That's why Madden NFL 09 ditched them and looked at film and photo for their updated jersey models. For example, the style guides had the Seahawks wearing mismatching jerseys and pants, while they always match in real life. (Sorry, I'm a jersey fan. If one developer already dropped the inaccuracy of the style guides, then it doesn't seem to be a good excuse.)

Additionally, The Show uses some wrong number fonts, etc. as the style guides are not officially compiled by their respective leagues, and they just aren't that accurate... Things like how throwbacks all use the same number font as the current jerseys, well, that's just Sony's fault as the throwbacks generally aren't in the style guides. The number font on the Brewers' Alternate 2 ("Retro Fridays") is an example where the style guide has it correct and MLB 08 has it incorrect.

Here's one more that I noticed missing: The Pittsburgh Pirates "ketchup red" alternate (or I just can't find it... it seems as if they have two identical but separate jerseys in the "away" selection on PS3. Could it be mismarked?)



Incidentally, wikipedia.org is a pretty good jersey reference in terms of mock-ups and accessability.

The Braves hats don't look almost black. The Yankees now they look almost black. Hell for the longest time I thought they were actually black.

Speaking of the Style Guides...

Back around 2001, I was looking for an accurate Seattle Pilots cap. The only ones I could find were from American Needle and they had the wrong "scrambled eggs" pattern on the bill.

Keep in mind that back then you actually could find the official Style Guide on the MLB website. The "scrambled eggs" pattern was actually wrong on the Style Guide!

Looking for something different (and hopefully more accurate), I called New Era, since they had an accurate Seattle Pilots cap in their display at the All Star Game FanFest. The woman I spoke to there told me that their Cooperstown Collection Seattle Pilots caps were made by American Needle. She also told me that the reason why the Pilots cap in their display looked so accurate was because it was actually from 1969!

When I asked about the inaccurate "scrambled eggs" in the Style Guide, I was floored by her answer. They (New Era) knew it was inaccurate. However, it was the only applique pattern available to the hat manufacturers at the time, therefore it became the pattern in the Style Guide! I thanked her for her honesty and for taking the time to answer my questions.

Needless to say, I'm just happy that New Era was able to produce accurate Pilots caps a few years ago for the M's "throwback" game vs. the Tigers.

Unfortunately the Pilots caps in this game still follow the inaccurate Style Guide. Not that I really expect anyone at SCEA to notice...

On 08 The Show the home helmets were all blue all the time
fact is, the Tribe wear helmets that are dark blue near black with a Red beak everytime at home with the whites and Blue alternate jerseys

when on the road if they wear there blue alternates they were the all blue helmets and obviously when they wear the greys its all blue helmet.

Just a tip!

Oh and majority of the time The Blue Jays when wearing the black jerseys they wear the "T' hats, however those hats can be worn on any given day and should be an option.
