Pulse pitching is an interesting idea, and using it I find pitchers defiantely do have much greater control. You will still miss pitches, but not miss by stupid amounts. I may very well end up settling with pulse pitch when it comes to playing the 162 game franchise.

Yeah, I was against it, but in light of what I suspect, I'm going to try Pulse out...

This edition of the game might be a simple matter of "getting with the (new) program" and using the new take on classic (Pulse) or crank up those HUM control / consistency sliders higher than in the past...

After a bunch of years with the series, handfuls of franchises and hundreds of played games, this is the first year I feel like almost every pitch is a "chuck and duck"...

Other than that, this thing is playing better than ever...so I really need to find a system that works for me...pronto!

This thread was started to see if classic pitching needed slider adjustments. So to stay on topic relating to sliders, so far I would agree with H&V,

it doesn't need adjustments when playing on AS.

HOF might be a different can of worms though...

I gotta say that I also am in agreement with the vast majority of the statements made here fellas. I gotta let you all know that since I started using Authentic and I live for this' sliders using classic pitching I have had a great variety and really fun games. I can get a hitter to chase out of the zone on a hammer or a slide piece, or I can toss up a straight heater and whiff Bruce, Votto, Kemp anyone really. Its all about knowing when and where to throw the ball. I have gotten shelled as well so there is the variety.

My controller doesnt vibrate so I just go off of feel. I think I play on HOF with control and consistency at whatever their default slider is. I know it was edited.

I still have human pitching control and consistancy at 6-6, not at default yet. Results were better. My dominate pitcher felt dominate, he still was wild at times, gave up a pair of runs on some garbage hits, when I couldnt find the plate, walk a guy, and had to just lob it in to stop throwing balls.

But then regained control. Ended up striking out 8 or so. I think I also need to take into account that my skill with this game is just not as good as some people here. HoF hitting seems quite hard, yet so many people say they get good results. I do know that HoF pitching is way above my head.
I noticed Authenic's sliders has the ball marker off... Pitching on HOF with no ball maker, and no strike zone is more of a challenge. That is definitely part of the reason you're control is going to be tougher.

I played with a non dual shock control last year and I agree, it's a lot easier to get into a groove with your timing that way. Probably helps with your control. I know it did mine.

I felt that those settings were too much for me with Authentics sliders, so I kept the ball marker and the strike zone on. I guess the short story is I need to figure out this x button press timing. Because I must have it very wrong, because I just dont get any sort of control.

I have been practicing using practice mode, and pitching simulated games, trying to see if I can get the hang of this, because for me it is very very difficult.

Pitch some games on default and tell us who the pitcher was and strike percentage. If you're going to look for the most realistic results play a few test franchise games where streaks and ratings come into play more.

Re: Classic Pitching Questions and Discussion 2012

Man!!! Boston, Texas, and Detroit!!! I've been getting smoked.

My respectable team 3.80 - 3.95 ERA has skyrocketed to 4.30 something. Thanks to Michael Pineda, almost completely on his own, by the way. Wouldn't it be cool if sending down guys in this series could help them work out "kinks?" LOL! Manny Banuelos or Dellin Betances may be getting a call up sometime soon. Just saying.

Seriously, when I post my end of month stats in the Franchise Progress Thread; if I have time, I'll post it with and without Pineda's numbers. It's mind-boggling. He's given up 8 (yes 8 HR's) in April.

But he does lead my team in K's. So yeah, I guess that's something.

Re: Classic Pitching Questions and Discussion 2012

I've been playing default Veteran and getting good results, but I decided to go up to All-Star to see how it is. I've been getting hammered. Even with good pitchers like Hudson, pitches are all over the place - regardless of confidence level. And just about everything the CPU hits seems to be a rocket somewhere. I don't know how you guys do it on All-Star. I'm going back to Veteran.

Re: Classic Pitching Questions and Discussion 2012

I just purchased the video game and a PS3 on Sunday and been playing all week and needing to learn how to pitch. I have always played the other game and used classic pinpoint pitching. It says if you use classic it will be like meter, but if you are not good at meter it is better than using meter. I like to aim and throw. In the other game if you hold the button down it will allow you to be more pinpoint and the pitch is more effective, but on this if you hold it down you throw harder but the the pinpoint sucks. The one difference I see are the arrows. I line up the arrows and throw and it is nowhere near where the arrows were pointing or the ball was when I started the pitch. So if anyone can help me pitch and let me know what the arrows mean, how I should aim, tap or hold the button, etc...

Also I cheated and made my pitcher all 99 on all pitches and made the sliders where you could not throw balls and even 0 the BB/9 and still threw balls.

Thanks in adavance
