I haven't been able to do much the past few weeks (I just moved and things haven't settled yet). There's always a few things I want to do with the game but haven't decided what to do next.

Do you see any anomaly in the stats in your seasons?

Re: Stats-Based CPU Sliders [MLB 12 Version]

I am getting some great results! Here are my sliders and the stats I have through 100 team games. I am doing this in franchise mode so I'm starting to get into the four and five starters:

100 games (MLB avg.) my stats
AT BATS (34.1) 33.98
RUNS (4.39) 4.02
HITS (8.78) 8.36
RBI (4.18) 3.85
WALKS (3.21) 3.37
STRIKEOUTS (7.04) 6.94
DOUBLES (1.75) 1.59
TRIPLES (0.19) 0.17
HOME RUNS (0.96) 0.92
SAC BUNT (0.34) 0.28
SAC FLY (0.27) 0.36
HBP (0.32) 0.10
DP (0.75) 0.93
ERRORS (0.62) 0.52
STEALS (0.64) 0.67
CAUGHT (0.25) 0.23

Thoughts: The run/hit production may increase slightly as I move through the 4 and 5 guys in the rotation. Walks are a bit over but it compensates for the slight lack of HBP. MLB AVG. for BB+HBP is 3.53 and my total is 3.47 so I like that. Doubles are a bit low. I had a stretch of 10 games that had only 5 total errors, other than that they have been pretty accurate so I'm not too concerned with that. Steals are great! the slight bump in DP's accounts for the slight dip in AB's. Overall I am very pleased with what I am seeing, I have started to test these same sliders with power at 6, hopefully that will increase doubles without ruining the HR total.

HERE ARE THE SLIDERS THAT CORRESPOND WITH THE ABOVE INFORMATION, BOTH HUM AND CPU ARE SET THE SAME:

CONTACT 4
POWER 5
TIMING 3
STR. DIFF. 5 (human only)
FOUL FR. 4
SOLID HIT 4
ST. STAM. 7
REL. STAM. 5
PIT. CONT. 8
PIT. CONS. 3
STR. FRQ. 5
HOOK 6
PICKOFF 0
PITCH SP. 10
FLD. ERROR 7
THR. ERROR 5
FIELD RUN SP. 5
FIELD REAC. 10
ARM STR. 2
BASE RUN SP. 6
STEAL ABIL. 4
STEAL FRQ. 8
WIND 0

I am about 30 team games into testing with POWER 6 and it has not destroyed the HR total! It has increased DOUBLES so I am cautiously optomistic. I will post my totals when I reach 50 team games, probably get there by tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks for your help Nomo, what I am doing is simply a variation of what you've already done!

Thanks for sharing the numbers, Steve. They look very nice.

I see deviations here and there from my current slider set, but it's reassuring that doing one thing can be compensated by something else to yield quite similar results while you can tailor the game to best suit your feeling.

Your offense is a bit down but I think that's mostly because of Timing = 3 than anything else (mine is at 6). I agree that it's probably a good move to increase Power in your case without inflating the overall offense much.

Of course feel free to have your own slider thread if you like, as I'm not really in this for receiving credit. I just enjoy discussing the game with similarly enthusiastic gamers here.

What effect do you think raising my timing sliders to four will have on my strikeouts?

Mine is at Timing = 6 right now and I think the overall strikeout rate is fairly realistic. Now, when I was adjusting that slider I was actually looking at swing & miss rate (which increased when I lowered Contact, which I countered by increasing Timing). But as we see the overall stats is pretty good, even when you went to the opposite way.

So I'm not sure what I would see with Timing = 4 (or even 3... my guess is that swing & miss % might be a bit inflated there), but given that things are playing well for you, I don't think there will be any negative effects.

The main thing I'm trying to find is a bit more offense without increasing home runs and without decreasing strike outs.

I think your set is a click or two more toward extreme than mine in general (which I think is tending to a slightly less offense), so perhaps you could try increasing Timing (3 right now) and decreasing Pitcher Control (8 right now) by one. Both of these should help offense a bit.

Thank you, though I do realize my cuteness has been fading while I've been away from New Jersey. I need the chemical shower from the manufacturing plants RIGHT NOW.

Re: Stats-Based CPU Sliders [MLB 12 Version]

My slider set followed Nomo17's at 9 on the Steal Frequency.
9 "Feels" about right on CPU vs CPU.
But after just two weeks, I have one guy with 13 steals, and several with 9 or 10.
If my Math is correct that would mean close to 150 steals for the season.
Shattering Rickey Henderson's mark.
But according to Nomo, his overall statistics say that steal frequency is only about 3/100s off where it should be.
I realize this is all a matter of taste. But I don't want to see records shattered so easily.
What slider are most of you using in this regard?
