A&S/Marino The Show 12 Timed Hitting/Classic Pitching All-Star Sim Sliders

Ok. I have been playing the Show since the 2009 version for PS3. In that time I have tried many of the different options available. In the 2011 version I found myself enjoying the game more than I ever had by using Timed hitting and classic pitching. But one of the major things I did was use auto fielding, assisted baserunning and sliding and manual throwing. The game feels, looks and plays so sim like.

I have played video game baseball since 1979 (Atari 2600...man I am old). I also was a huge Statis-Pro Baseball nut and I played baseball (hardball) till i was 30 and have been playing tournament softball since 2000 (I play third base). So I am a baseball junkie to the core. It is my number one sport.

The Show 2012 is hands down the best video baseball game yet. I am truly blown away with the new ball physics. So I felt compelled to throw out my initial slider set. I play All-star level for all facets of the game.

Here we go. They are a work in progress....but I feel they will be tweaked by next week. This year out of the box at default the game is feeling great. However i have made some custom tweaks. Use them as a base and tweak to your style and level of play. They are similar to Marino but have some different tweaks and different game play aproaches.

A big key to these is you must be a patient hitter. The CPU will not just hit the zone. They will get you to chase and chase often. That is the point. So you should be a skilled hitter to enjoy these. You will draw walks if you can fight and stay alive. A huge key is to use the contact swing to fight off pitchers counts and get deep in the count. Just like IRL. I turned off the check swing appeal as I found it can really get the K's too high. If you check....most of the time you will be ok....but they will still call some strikes. Plus the players ratings will play out on plate discipline.

Marino and I are working together on these as we have very similar approaches to The Show and what we are looking for. His 2011 set was steller!

Enjoy!

Hybrid Veteran/All-Star version 1.2 - The only adjustment to gameplay is set hitting to Veteran. Here are the sliders for this verison. On Human hitting I found default Veteran worked really well. Where I made adjustments was CPU pitching to get walks and pitch variety. Also pitch speed is at 3 this a purely personal slider. Please adjust to your skill level. Fielder Speed recieved a huge adjustment down to 2. Like 2011 the outfielders are god like cheetah's! Way to many hits that are sharpley pulled down the line are being tracked down much too quickly by all outfielders.

I really think this hybrid set is the way to go for most simulation/ratings based players. Marino I and others are continuing to play many games to get them tuned just right.

Pitch Speed is a personal setting. Basically tune that slider to where you feel comfortable. I am personally at 3 but if your having problems picking up pitches lower it down to "0" and work your way up as your hitters eye get's better. Or if your happy with your results leave it at zero. But that is the most flexible slider to adjust for hitting results.

That's very similar to mine, so I am willing to help and we can collaborate to make the perfect sliders.

Sweet I was looking for a set created around timing hitting, classic pitching, and auto fielding. I believe all of these settings give the most sim like game possible. Looking forward to what you come up with.

Just a thought, based only on looking at these, but what about reliever stamina? Does default get them out of the game at the correct time they would in IRL??

Just a thought again, and curious about what you are finding.

I am still playing games to get a good statistical sample size. I am keeping that in mind as well as starter stamina, pitch counts etc.

I will post the findings once I have a reliable result from playing at least 17-20 games.

I am thinking that one thing to focus on is Fielding Reaction/Speed/Arm Strength.

Especially reaction and speed. The Outfielders are making some crazy plays covering tremendous range on me on hits that should be in the gap.

My sliders are very similar, with classic and timing. I agree about the fielders...I have fielder reaction at 1 and fielder run speed at 4...playing great!....also upped throwing errors to 6.

Edit: I control my fielders though, not sure if you guys do.

So far I have not encountered anything too wonky. I am focusing on CPU Pitching and HUM hitting. Also watching reliever and starter stamina.

Let me know what your thoughts are on reaction/speed/arm.

I have played only 5 full games thus far. But I am liking everything to this point.

Need 20 games to get a real gauge to be honest. And I may just start a trial franchise or season to test some more.

But I really feel the game is super tight so far on these minor tweaks to default all-star.

Re: Armor & Swords The Show 12 Timed/Classic All-Star Sim Sliders

Been running with these sliders for about ten games now. Really, the only big change I've made is upping human control and consistency to 6 each. On classic, I was all over the place with control pitchers at 5/5. On 6/6, it's a good balance to where average to below average guys still have control issues, but guys like Halladay can spot pitches on the black much easier.

What have you guys seen in regards to the issue? Is it just me?
