The more fans the better

If Phillips and Rolen can start hitting this team will be very dangerous, same said if Latos can pitch like he did today.

The potential this team has when hitting on all cylinders is amazing. Not really worried since it's May. I'm just hoping we peak at the right time this year.

You reminded me about something that's been on my mind this weekend. I was looking at 2012 attendance figures yesterday for St. Louis home games vs Reds home games. The Cards get 35k-40k every single game regardless of the day of the week or the opponent. If you throw out the first two games against the Marlins, the Reds average 22,118 per home game. Throw out the weekend-series against the Astros that drew 93k, and they average barely 19k per game. I know school is still in session around here but it's the same way in St. Louis. Sure it picks up once school is out but even during the week in June and July attendance isn't great unless the opponent is somebody fans want to see. If fans think that BP and Votto are going to be here for the duration of their contracts while having attendance figures not on par with St. Louis, they are kidding themselves. I don't know whether to accept the attendance as just the way things are here or not.

Anyway, great series win by the Reds. Hopefully they can go into Milwaukee and take care of the Brew Crew.

Willie Harris has been demoted! I wish I could like my post.

I think it's getting safe to say that Arroyo's issue last year was trying to pitch while battling mono. He has a 2.75 ERA, and more importantly...27 Ks to only four walks.

Ondrusek continues to match Chapman in the bullpen. Another scoreless appearance.

That homer Bruce hit was one of the longest I've ever seen. Had that been at GABP...that could've rivaled the one Dunn hit into the Ohio River. Bruce is now up to .298/.336/.644 and he is currently on a 10-game hitting streak. When he's hot, he is something to watch.

Phillips got a couple of hits. Hopefully, that gets him going. And how about Cairo getting a double in his first at-bat off the DL (speaking of which, I'm glad they kept Frazier up).

Speaking of our backup 3B, Rolen went 0-4 and is now hitting .179/.247/.310. But hey Dusty, let's keep pretending there's nothing wrong.

Reds have won four of five and 11 of 16. This is fun.

Ryan Hanigan has a .364 on-base percentage. Maybe I have watched too much Moneyball, but he should be the leadoff hitter.

Fingers crossed that Homer Bailey can keep the good times rolling tonight.

I know you're kidding with Hanigan leading off, but Cozart has been an excellent lead off hitter so far. Hopefully he can keep playing like he has all year.
Phillips and Rolen definitely need to start hitting.

As much as I am happy to see Willie Harris demoted, they have no Left Handers on the bench now.

It would be great to see them win a series in Milwaukee.

I think Cozart has been a very nice surprise and has been pretty consistent, especially considering everyone else.

Also, I hope this is Stubbs starting to "get it".

No need to overanalyze last night. Homer Bailey was awful. After 40+ pitches in the first inning, it was clear it was not his night. Ryan Ludwick was 0-3 and is now "hitting" .176/.263/.353. I'm not ready to cut bait on him yet, but it's clear this former Cardinal signing has been a disaster so far.

There were a few positives to take from last night. Jay Bruce continued his hitting streak. He is now up to .306/.342/.667 on the season. Brandon Phillips went 2-4 with a double and two runs scored. Phillips may be coming around now. Zack Cozart had two hits, including a double.

And I know I've been tough on him the last two seasons, but we did get a reminder last night that Scott Rolen has carved out a pretty good career. His double in the 8th inning tied him with the Babe for 48th on the all-time list. Congrats Scotty.

Johnny Cueto vs Zack Greinke this afternoon. Should be a fun one.

EDIT: Todd Frazier is getting the start in left today! YES! YES!!! YES!!!!!!

I don't know how Johnny Cueto does it. His numbers shouldn't be this good, and yet he keeps doing it. His ERA is down to 1.12. Chew on that for a bit. Brandon Phillips grabbed two more hits and a stolen base. Now that's the consistency we need from BP. Drew Stubbs also had two hits and a steal. I love him in the two hole. Best thing Dusty has done for the kid. Joey Votto had the big hit today.

Aroldis Chapman continues to prove that he is now a pitcher instead of a thrower. And how about Logan Ondrusek being called in to finish that one off. I'm sure he didn't expect to have his number called in that situation. I know I didn't expect the Toothpick to have someone other than the closer finish the game.

Sean Marshall did his best Francisco Cordero impression there. I'm not worried about him in the long run, but that was ugly.

Huge win today. Could be a big momentum shifter that sends the Reds on a big winning streak. They'll need it with the Nats, Braves, and Yanks coming up.
