Could be a rough year for our Cards in 08, but ya never know.

Who knows is right.

I'm kind of frustrated that 2 of the big 3 are gone... but who knows... Glaus might be able to resurrect his career...

OK, it might be a rough year.

Re: "Juan Gone"

I see the Cards are inviting him to Spring Training. Seems that Pujols strongly urged the management to bring him abaord. I read that if he makes the MLB roster, he's got a minimum $1,000,000 coming his way.

It's a no-brainer. I know he's been playing in the Independent Leagues for the last two seasons. He also played in the World Baseball Classic. One thing is clear...the guy can still rake. He may not hit 40 anymore, but I do feel that if healthy, the Cards and their fans will love this guy!

I'm excited about them signing him. I've always been a fan of Juan Gonzalez so I was hoping to see him make that comeback for a LONG time now. Maybe this time it'll work out.

Re: "Juan Gone"

Pujols is good at knowing when players are looking good, he is one of the reasons we got Percival last season, and many other sleepers in the past. Juan Gone could have a big year, but if not i'm confident in Barton, Ludwick, Shumaker, Ankiel, and Duncan. Barton,Ludwick, Ankiel, and Duncan all have power, and I think our lineup is better this year power wise, the key will be to hit with runners in scoring position, and not k'ing so much. I think Wainright will have a cy young type season.

Re: 2008 St.Louis Cardinals thread

I really don't know what to expect from this season. My expectations are not very high, but it should be good to see some of our young talent.

I think Ankiel has a breakout year, as does Duncan. I know I said that last year, but I really think our lineup will be stronger than last year, taking the pressure of Duncan and especially Albert.

Pitching will definitely be an adventure. Should be fun, hopefully.

I don't see this team doing very well, but I hope I'm wrong. I think our lineup is better than last year, but I don't know how the pitching will hold up. I think Wainwright is a stud, but no one else has really been consistent.

Re: 2008 St.Louis Cardinals thread

Pujols puts off surgery that would cost him the entire '08 season. He has a torn ligament, bone spurs, and arthritis in his elbow.

Eventually he will have to have surgery.
