From what it sounds like, to nobody's suprise, this is the old boys network trying to keep him out. It's also known that his bid is the highest.

If Selig's boy John Canning Jr. gets the team cuz they're buddies, there will be backlash. I already harbor a ton of animosity towards this team and some of it's decision making, this will only make it worse. It's one thing to get out bid, it's another to be barred from MLB because you're not "in the club". Total B.S. if true.

They will offer Dempster a four year deal, but won't even consider signing Wood? i know he struggled, but I bet he would make a heck of a set-up guy for Marmol or Gregg.
