Lets go Good guys - Official 2007 Chicago White Sox thread.

Time to re-adjust and put ourself back on the map. Im still a little iffy on if we should have traded McCarthy, but only time will tell. I think we still have a good lineup and good staff we just need them to get hungry again. Time for Ozzy to lead the troups because you know the AL Central is going to be tough.

Hopefully Dye can stay on track after an MVP-like season. Crede avoided arbitration, but im sure he'll be trade bait if there is any faultering in the first half of the season. Brian Anderson has another year under his belt and hopefully can pick it up on the offensive side of ball. We need Buehrle and Contrares to get back to 2005 form as well.

I like the fact that we have improved our bullpen. Outside of Bobby Jenks, our bullpen was our downfall last year. Not only I'm excited about the bullpen help BUT Jenks has lost like 40 lbs in the off season. I see big things from this kid.

Only thing I'm worried about is losing velocity on his fastball because of the weight loss. Although, having him in better shape can't be a bad thing.

I really like the Erstad and Toby Hall pick-ups. Once again they add great depth to our team and two more guys who can step in and start and have little drop-off in production.

The McCarthy trade scares me a bit, but the more I see about the arms we got in return, the more I like it. I just don't want to go back to the days of searching for a fifth starter, we don't need an Arnie Munoz situation again.

I like what they are doing with stockipiling flame-throwers in the pen. It compliments the Starters well, as after seeing 88-93 for your first couple at-bats, then throwing 96-99 out there, it will seem even faster. It could be even more extreme if Haegar gets the fifth spot. Imagine seeing Haeger, then Thorton and Jenks. People would think they are throwing 105.

The last thing I would like to see is a commitment to fundamentals. I'm not talking about playing small ball all the time, I'm atalking about getting a bunt down when we need to move a runner. Or being able to execute a hit and run effectively. Pitchers getting ahead of hitters. Basically, don't depend on the long-ball so much, and give us a few ways to win a game.

All that being said, I think the Sox are going to have a great year. The Indians, while talented, never seem to be able to get it together. The Twins are alaways tough, but not nearly as scary now that Liriano is out.
The Tigers will be tough again, but I see them not as hungry as they were last year. And the Royals, despite Gil Meche, just don't have the talent to compete in what I believe is the toughest division in baseball. I think it will be a four horse race untill August, with one or two teams falling off at the end to make it a 2 or 3 horse race. I just hope that the Central doesn't beat each other up so bad that it costs the 2nd place team a shot at the wild card.

Looks like Scot Podsednik is on target to return on Opening Day. He's playing in a minor league rehab assignment and he states that he's pain free. Hopefully he can return to his pre-2005 form and make this offense deadly.

Hmm, well it looks like it will be awhile before I get Comcast SN again. How are they looking so far?

Going to the game today (Easter) should be a cold one. Danks in his first start vs. the best pitcher on the planet (Santana), talk about having a rough opponent in your first big league start. Hopefully the cold will make for a good debut.

Danks looked pretty good out there yesterday. One mistake cost him the game but he definitely held his own against Santana.
