The 2007 Indians Thread

Alright getting this one started early... (I give credit to EG's new avatar though, it got me hyped for some Tribe baseball!)

We've got the parts, now it's time to make our move. So lets hear it Tribe fans.... This year will finally be the year our thread is not a jinx to team!

Also when the hell will Hafner finally get recognized at one of the top 5 hitters in baseball?

Re: The 2007 Indians Thread

I have a feeling you guys will be much closer to 2005 than 2006. You were my World Series pick last year, and I'll go with an AL pennant this year.

Re: The 2007 Indians Thread

I actually think we had a major off season, bummed to see Kevin Kousmanoff go, but the signed the pieces parts we needed. Our bullpen should be great, a lot of veterans to help out (Foulke, Borowoski), and our hitting is going to be tough as always. Adding Barfield is huge if he plays like he did in San Diego.

I'm thinking we could really have a shot, baseball is crazy in any team can really do it anymore.

1st - Blake/Garko
2nd - Barfield
SS - Peralta
3rd - Marte
LF - Michaels/Dellucci
CF - Sizemore
RF - Choo
DH - Hafner

Rotation
Sabathia
Sowers
Lee
Westbrook
Byrd

I think a lot depends on Jhonny bouncing back, and Marte proving he can be a star. The bullpen has been reworked, and the starting staff should be consistent for the entire year! I'm really pumped about this year... hell three AL Central teams in the WS in three years... why the hell not?

Re: The 2007 Indians Thread

I'm looking at our batting order and I know I wouldn't want to face it...

1- Grady Sizemore
2- Jesse Barfield
3- Victor Martinez
4- Travis Hafner
5- Casey Blake/Ryan Garko
6- Andy Marte
7- Jhonny Peralta
8- Shin-Soo Choo
9- Jason Michaels/Dave Dellucci

That's the way I'd have the lineup anyway..obviously could and will change.

Some players to look out for would be OF Ben Francisco, OF Brad Snyder, 1B Michael Aubrey, and SP Adam Miller.

Really? I thought the organization had pretty much given up on him and labeled him a bust that couldn't stay healthy?

Also can't wait to see Miller, I think eventually he takes over Byrd's starting spot or fills in for Jake if we trade him. If the veteran bullpen can jell, I really could see us going far this year. The O has never been the problem IMO, it's about time the pitching shows up as well.

Aubrey's still around, and he's supposedly the best he's felt in years, we'll see.

Re: The 2007 Indians Thread

We signed OF Trot Nixon to a 1 year deal today (3 million), I like it, he'll play in RF. They are saying Choo will start in AAA now, and Blake/Nixon will platoon in right. Good signing.

I grew up playing baseball against Brad Snyder when he played ball in Bellevue. He knows how to play the game like the best of them and will play a major role for the Tribe in the future.
