even though we didnt land zito or a "top teir FA" we have some up ad comers competing for a spot. this will prob be one of the most intriguing spring trainings in recent years. i mean the games dont count but all of the pitchers not nmaed glavine or hernandez have something to play for. i just wish bannister had another shot, but im content with who we have tyrying out.

It's going to be boom or bust IMHO

I'm not too worried about the vets at the front of the rotation (Glavine and Duque). The last three spots are up in the air, results-wise. The guys at the back of the rotation will have great stuff. I think Perez will have a big year with a full year under Peterson. I like Maine, he'll likely be the #3.

The #5 spot is totally up in the air- you'll have Pelfrey, Humber, Vargas, and Bostick fighting for that spot. I am really high on Pelfrey and Humber. Vargas was solid his rookie year.

All in all, it could be worse.

Re: 2007 New York Mets Discussion

Lets just hope our young staff can come out and shock the world like the Detroit staff did last year. Our offense is good enough to get us through the regular season and if we make the post season I am confident in the guys we have after what they did last year.

If healthy and assuming we make the playoffs, we will go to war with Pedro, El Duque, and Sanchez who were not there last year.

I am very excited to see what the young guys can do. I hope I am still excited at the all star break .

Let's GO METS!
