2006 Seattle Mariners

Its August, and I noticed that the Mariners didn't have a team thread...

Well, what do you guys think? Any chance we can win the West? This month is huge.

The next series are against Oakland, TB, Texas, Oak, LAA, NYY, Bos, LAA.....If we can make it out of this month, above .500, we have a good shot at it.

And what if we don't make it? What are our moves for the offseason?

We are now nine games back.

Glad we traded Choo away for Broussard.

Besides interleague play, the Mariners have been pretty poor this season.

There used to be a handful of Mariners fans here, I wonder what happened to them?

Re: 2006 Seattle Mariners

Even though it has been another rough year for my M's, there have still been plenty of reasons to keep watching.

Kenji Johjima has impressed with the bat and the glove. Any concerns about the language barrier have pretty much evaporated away.

Yuniesky Betancourt has continued to impress on defense and is hitting much better than expected. He appears to be a legit .290-.300 type hitter with occasional pop in his bat...plus he is quite speedy.

Despite a sluggish start, Beltre has picked it up as of late and his glovework has been stellar...

Ibanez has stepped up in a big way and has even made strides in left field.

There are a cluster of young arms in the pen, many of whom look to be about ready to make their mark.

I am very curious to see what the M's do in the off season to solidify the team. It's a shame that we had that damn 11 game losing streak otherwise things would be so much better!
