This was a surprise move to me as well. I'm trying to find out why this happened, but I haven't come across anything yet. I know the Tigers want to keep Chris Shelton up here in the majors from this point through the season, but that's it. My only guess on why Dmitri Young has been released now is that the Tigers are in process of trying to negotiate with Sean Casey's agent on the low to keep Casey here beyond this season. But I can be way off about this.

With Wil Ledezma pitching very well, Andrew Miller called up, and Mike Maroth almost completely healthy, our pitching staff is beginning to round to form.

Placido Polanco will be back within a couple weeks, and Carlos Guillen will be playing in a few days.

And Marcus Thames seems to be the main beneficiary of Dmitri Young's release since he's the one who will be mostly hitting in the DH spot.

Now we need Sean Casey and Curtis Granderson to get out of their hitting slumps, and we need Neifi Perez to just plain get a hit. Plus Magglio Ordonez need to start driving in runs on a more consistent basis.

We need Jim Leyland to break up with him, the guy is terrible, he should just play as a defensive replacement.

Are you worried about the Blue Jays catching you?

....Oh, was that a dumb question?

Are they Jays 2 out? No they are not, hence I'm not worried, but you should be.

The only relation between my "question" and yours was the absurdity of both.

I'm as worried about the Twins or White Sox catching the Tigers as much as you AREN'T worried about Toronto catching the Yankees.

In simple terms: Yes, I'm worried. The Tigers are choking.

Re: 2006 Detroit Tigers

I'm a little worried....the AL Central is by far the toughest division in baseball, but we're still 2 games up, and have a bunch with the Royals to end the year. One thing to keep in mind, Chicago did the same type of slide at the end of last season, and look how they ended up.
