2006 San Francisco Giants

The window of opportunity may have passed us by, but the 2006 Giants may have one final push with the additions of Morris, Finley, Worrell, Kline, Sweeney, Vizcaino and Wright this past offseason. So long to Snow, Alfonzo (finally), and Eyre. Being one of the oldest teams in the majors, health is definately a concern. Already hampered with injuries, Benitez will begin the season on the 15 day DL. In other news, Lowry has signed a 4-year contract for $9.25mil. Here's to another great season of baseball!

Projected Opening Day Rotations/Lineup

CF - Randy Winn
SS - Omar Vizquel
2B - Ray Durham
LF - Barry Bonds
RF - Moises Alou
3B - Pedro Feliz
1B - Lance Niekro

P - Jason Schmidt
P - Matt Morris
P - Noah Lowry
P - Matt Cain
P - Jamey Wright
SU - Steve Kline
CL - Tim Worrell

Key Position Bench Players
Steve Finley
Mark Sweeney
Jose Vizcaino
Jason Ellison

Re: 2006 San Francisco Giants

I don't think the window of oppertunity has passed the Giants by, but i do think it is closing. Bonds, Schmidt, Alou, Durham, are all free agents after this season, so if the Giants are going to make a run at a title this will have to be the year.
The Giants will have money to spend with Bonds and co. of the books, so maybe they could get younger and build around Lowery, Cain and their other young arms.

Matt Morris was solid in his debut as the Giants split the series with the Padres. I couldn't help but laugh at Estes as he stumbled along in the 6th. Lowry will be starting in the opening home game tomorrow afternoon against the Braves. Hopefully some better hitting will come as well

I think Matt will be are best Pitcher! I like Schmidt, but with out his fastball going in the high 90 to mid he will just be a pitcher that knows how to pitch, but wont be a dominator!

Giants take the home opener, but Lowry left in the 2nd inning due to a back strain. We can only hope it's a minor injury and not miss much time. I wonder when Bonds will get his first day off, maybe tomorrow? Cain will face Davies in what I believe will be a good matchup, both promising young talents.

Soon, I think he will be all right. I think he might miss a couple starts, That was a good sign beating the braves. Hope they can take 2 out of 3!

Re: 2006 San Francisco Giants

6 walks, 1HBP, 1 error .. when did this turn into a minor league game? Man that's so unacceptable. I rather see them throw BP fastballs and have them hit 8 straight HR's than something like that. Absolutely horrible

Couldn't ask for more.. Giants comeback win, Peavy and the Padres getting SMASHED by the Rockies and the Dodgers lost game 1 of their doubleheader. We take the series 3-1 and have a day off before facing Houston. The one thing that has impressed me is the Giants are winning without Bonds having any sort of rhythm.

Yeah, baby. Wow what a freakin game! We are going to be tough! Especially our bench! And starting pitching. Man I hope Armando can come back and be like he used to be. Any ways great win.. Schmidt looked like the old Schmidt, but he needs to cut down the walks!

yeah, but e will get it going. You have to remember he missed the whole year last year. He is still getting the timing down. Lance is becoming the man. I have big hope for him. I think he can put up Clark type numbers!
