The 2006 New York Mets...

The season looks promising for the guys. But of course it all depends on injuries. IMHO i think Beltran will have a better year than last year, do to the fact that he has a season of "new York" under his belt. I've seen the guy play here in KC and he is much better than what he showed last year.

Re: The 2006 New York Mets...

Beltran was injured the vast majority of the season and that, coupled with not handling the move to the New York market, gave him that sub-par season. I'd expect to see him more in line with 20-25 HR's, 90-100 RBI's, .280 AVG & 30+ SB's this season.
The team has improved almost across the board, but I'd be a lot more comfortable if we had one more top-end starting pitcher. There's still time for that though.

my only issue is why they still keep Zambrano around.. i know they think they need to prove that the Kazmir deal wasnt "one sided", but enough is enough.. i woulda traded him to LA instead of Seo...

Zambrano is the poster child for "Million dollar arm, ten cent head". He has awesome stuff, but unfortunately no idea where it is going. What are the odds he puts it all together and has a great season in his FA year?

Realistically though, he needs to be exiled from the team. The only thing he does is serve to remind Met fans of the worst trade in franchise history (OK, Ryan-Fregosi, Seaver-Zachary....we're chronically retarded, but still).

LOL. i hold out all hopes that he has "contract year" performance. Win a few games and then leave our team! Im all for dropping anchor on that one.

Realistically though, i think the mets have a good chance of making the Playoffs this year.

Hey, when are the Mets supposed to get a new stadium? Isnt it supposed to be based on one of the previous fields in NY when the Dodgers and Giants were there?

They're supposed to break ground this spring. It's scheduled to open for the 2009 season (as is the Yankees new stadium) and it's design (at least the outside) will mimic Ebbett's Field.
