The 2006 Chicago White Sox Thread

Ok since there wasnt any threads on the White Sox, I figured to start one today.

As we all know, the 2006 White Sox will not be the same team as the 2005 version. But IMO, only better.

Newly Acquired Players:

Jim Thome - DH
Javier Vasquez - SP
Rob Mackowiak - Utility

Notable Departures:

Aaron Rowand (via trade)
Orlando Hernandez (via trade)
Damaso Marte (via trade)
Carl Everett (Seattle, via FA)

Resignings:
Paul Konerko
AJ Pierzynkski

I can't wait for this season to start!!

Anything less than a World Series appearence will be a disappointment.

Yeah, they made some high risk/reward moves in the offseason, if Thome is healthy and puts up 3/4 of his usual #'s he will be better than the DH's last year. I'm not totally sold on the Vasquez deal, but if he gets hsi stuff back that made the Yankees make him their #1, then I'll be more than happy.

However, don't think that I think that they are going to struggle this year. While the Twins and Indians have made some minor moves, I think the Sox have made more and that they should be back in the playoffs and competing for a back-to-back title. Should be another exciting summer.

Boy o Boy we win one World Series and if we dont win it again next year it will be a dissappointment? I will be happy to get to the playoff again, and win it, if we dont win it all i will be disappointed, but I will be happy with a solid season.

I never set expectations anymore after 2001, I just watch the games and enjoy my team. Of course i am happy when we win, I just love baseball on the South Side

How difficult do you guys think it will be to get tickets this year? I want to head out for the July 7-9 Red Sox series.

Tickets to big games like those will probably sell out. I say try to get tickets when they first come out, cause most likely they'll sell out, not to fans, but mostly to scalpers. Yup, sad to say. thats how Chicago works.

I guess so. They're already sold out before they even went on sale to the general public.

As an Indians fan, I gotta tell you, I have a hard time seeing Chicago not win the division. I am hopefull for the Indians and think they are CAPABLE of taking it. Chicago are not only the champs, but they got better. It's going to be tough for the Tribe to get past them.
