The 2006 Chicago Cubs: Season of Futility

I thought we should start a new thread for the upcoming season and document the continued downward spriral of this franchise.

Mariotti had a good article today about where were at...

Mariotti

So now Baker is courting MILTON BRADLEY!

Yep, more of the same. Gonna be a another great year Cubs fans.

Although since my son was born the White SOx won the World Series and the Bears haven't lost a game...... Nah, even he's not powerful enough to get the Cubs to the world series......or is he?

As a Cubs fan I am not happy.

The Score is reporting the Cubs had an oppritunity to match the Furcal Offer and passed. The cubs payroll should be well into the 100 mil dollar range instead its sitting 80-85 mil right now. What a cheap organization. Furcal was priority #1 and they didnt get him.

Now that Tejada wants out of Baltimore what a huge trade that could be if the Cubs could land Miggy. Maybe offer them a package of young players like Pie, Hill, and Cedeno. Though the orioles would probably want at leasy prior of Zambrano which I don't blame them. If that is the case I don't think the trade has any chance of happening. Plus who says the orioles will trade him in the first place.

Chance of Landing Tejada 15%

Actually, if I'm hearing things correctly, they didn't have to match. Furcal asked the Cubs to increase their offer by only 1 mil per year and he would take the deal. They declined.

Happens all the time.

As much as I like the Pierre deal obviously, the Cubs easily could've done more. And as usual choose the bottom line first.

As usual we field a .500 club that will be in it enough to keep the idiots streaming into Wrigley with increased ticket prices and THIS year they've added even more Bleacher seats.

Keep the cash cow fed!

If the cubs decide to trade for Milton Bradley I will be very disappointed. Dusty says he had a face to face with him and everyone deserves a second chance. BULLS***. Milton deserves an exit from baseball. He's a cancer, and a damn wife beater. How could someone choke their pregnant girlfriend.

I'm sorry for ranting but I just recently heard that Furcal wanted 1 mil more a year and McFAIL(I know its Mcphail) nixed the deal not Hendry.

I've got all my stupid homer friends blowin a load just because of Pierre. Thats why I remind them of Right field, shortstop, Kerry Wood, the number two spot and best of all DUSTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't like some of the things Bradley has done in the past, but we need somebody in right and Bradley would be definately be an improvement over Burnitz. So I am all for it.
