Are there a realistic number of walks, foul balls etc. in this game?

I need a baseball fix but I don't want to fork out 60 bones for a game that does not play like the game of baseball. I am a realism geek so I look for every little detail. No game is perfect but is this game worth the purchase for someone like myself or will it just end up being frustrating? Also can you control all roster movement for every team or can you only control one organization? I have to have accurate rosters as they are in real life. That would be a deal breaker for me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes to all your questions. Get the game, it's worth it. More so on the PC than the console though, doubt I'd buy it for the 360 if I had to but that's just me.

Yes, however the little things add up. It's a pretty good game compared to previous years and I have fun with it. I had to adjust the sliders a bit so I would throw more balls and would get walked more. Overall though yeah, It's realistic, but at the same time it's still a video game.

Honestly, in my opinion, if you're looking for a game to play just individual baseball games, head to head match-ups, and just look for something to enjoy playing baseball on, then I think 2k is pretty suitable once you found a good slider set and got accustomed to the game play.

For realism within franchise and simming, nope, don't even make an attempt.

I think it's kinda hard to get fouls or walks in this game. I can be 3-0 and then the pitcher will throw 3 strikes in a row. The defensive swing no longer fouls balls off. They all end up being weak hits for outs.

You're wrong or you're just not using a good slider set.I walk and be walked costantly.

I use an excel sheet to write down my stats. I am averaging 4.7 BBs over the last 10 games...

To the op,

Fouls balls are on the low side, I get an average of about 30/game. This causes the pitches counts to come in low on average. Pitches/PA in this game averages out to about 3.4, where as the MLB average is 3.8. IMO, because of this, you'll find pitchers to be able to go an extra inning or two than normal on average. Franchise mode might get on your nerves sooner than later, and I don't believe the patch is going to address "realism".

If you use custom sliders you can get plenty of walks.

You must mean you get 30 foul balls per game with both teams combined. Correct?

If so, yes, that it too low.
