Fantasy draft help?

I've been wanting to do a fantasy draft but I struggle with knowing what and who to pick and what positions are more important to have over other positions. Was wondering if anyone out there has some good tips on who or what to draft

Re: Fantasy draft help?

Firstly, you need a really good pitcher. Always pick a good pitcher first.
Offense doesn't mean crap if you can't keep the other team off the board.
Then after that, get a power guy to play cleanup. Regardless position. By this time there should be a couple 90+ power guys.
You would want someone with speed as well.
After maybe a closer or someone with good contact hitting.
Relievers
Fill the rest in.

If I am not mistaken, for the fantasy draft(100 rounds). you pick you AAA/AA/A roster along with MLB. (good lord)

Ay crumba... I'd pick my 25 MLB guys then let the CPU sim the rest of the draft. Makes for a something different as well, not knowing who your minor league prospects will end up being.

Re: Fantasy draft help?

Get a 1-2 punch that complements each other well. e.g. a power pitcher and a cleanup, or a power pitcher and a leadoff, 2 middle infielders, an elite outfield, etc.

Notable people I consider excellent value...

Justin Upton/Mike Stanton RF's late round 2
Brett Lawrie 3B round 3
Dee Gordon/Elvis Andrus SS's round 3
Dustin Ackley 2B late round 4
Mike Moustakas 3B late round 5
Craig Kimbrel CL round 6
Dominic Brown LF round 9.

Re: Fantasy draft help?

I actually did all 100 rounds for the franchise I'm in.

1) always draft a SP first
2) there are A LOT of nice LF so you can easily pick that position last
3) there seems to be a shortage of C, 2B, and SS so pick them early
4) get at least 2 quality MR/LR
5) draft a CL late as they're always available in the late rounds at 85+ overal
6) draft a backup C always since they seem to tire the fastest
7) for backups, have at least one speed demon, one high contact guy, and one high power guy
8) DON'T GO OVER THE BUDGET

I'm 3-4 million over the budget so I'll have to dump a player or two at the trade deadline just to not screw myself over for next season.
