Exclamation 2k11 PC Online League

Over the past few evening a few guys and myself over at mvp mods have been able to get a few solid lag free online games in. Since this was never the case before, we could potentially start up an online league. If anyone here at OS is interested check this thread @ mvpmods out or let me know here.

If you are having online issues, follow these steps:
  • Run the Benchmark test after EVERY graphic change you make. I cant stress this enough! You want to get a reading of 70+ if possible
  • From your graphic card setup, disable all Anti-Aliasing. For nvida users - switch texture filtering to HIGH PERFORMANCE as well
  • Run the game in windows mode. I have no idea why this makes such a huge difference but my benchmark jumped from 65 to 150 by changing nothing other than this mode.
  • If you are still having issues with getting a good bm reading, start changing your resolution till you can get something manageable
  • Know your rig and have a good internet connection.
Looking forward to hearing from anyone who is interested!

I want to start this up soon, so let me know asap.

I would definitely be interested, but my connection isn't the greatest right now.

I've also noticed that the FPS display in the benchmark mode doesn't match up with FRAPS. I'm not sure why.

Hey jeffy777, we should try to get a game in soon and see how it plays for you.

It took me a while to figure this out, but the benchmark test is is pretty much your online gauge. With my setup, i could run everything maxed out and fraps would give me a 60 with no hiccups but the benchmark test would sit at 45-50. Getting the test over 70 is the key to having a solid online experience I think.

I really think that not enough people realize how good the game plays online or don't know how to set up their system so they don't even bother.

I'd be intrested in joining but I dont think it will play smooth for everyone. I have a 120 fps benchmark with everything maxed out and a 12MB wired internet connection but when I tried playing online it was still very slow and laggish. Not sure if that was because of the other player or what...

Re: 2k11 PC Online League

I agree with Pena. We played a game last night and I was ecstatic at how well it played.

Also for me if I max everything out I get 70 and I haven't tried that online yet. But what I did do is lower MSAA (or whatever it's called) to 2x or 4x and I also lowered shadows from Ultra to one notch lower and I was getting around 100 and that's the setting I used. No real point in saying this other just throwing it out in case someone wants a nice increase. I'm guessing the shadows must have been the biggie.

But the game played great, there was a little hitch when swinging, but it seemed to happen on balls I was late with anyway.

Did you play "shutupandplay04"? If so the couple of times I tried playing him the game was unplayable. But that was pre-patch. Also pre-patch I did play one good game, but it was just okay. You had to swing early and such.

But again, last night it was easy enough to see the difference between balls and strikes so it became fun in trying to setup the hitter.

Sounds great, man. I'll definitely have time to play next week. Let me know what night/time works good for you. I moved out of town last summer, so the only Internet I can get out here is Verizon 3G. It's not bad for Dirt 3 or even Call of Duty, but I certainly miss my cable. I've played a few games of 2K11 with my friend and there wasn't much lag, and he lives all the way over in Alaska, so I'm sure that didn't help with the ping . With a good connection, this game is awesome online.

That makes sense about the benchmark test. I can get it up to around 100 with my 5850 and everything maxed out at 1920 x 1080, so I should be ok in that department. My connection would be the bottleneck, but I hope it's good enough for the league because I'd love to be in an active PC league.

Re: 2k11 PC Online League

@jeffy I'm around this evening and all day tomorrow, let me know if you can get a game in!

@BSU-FAN glad you would be interested man! My hope is that everyone who is going to play gets there benchmark test at a high number so that lag is never an issue. As kubankoas mentioned, the game speed is pretty flawless! As of right now we have a solid group that is looking promising! btw sent you a msg @ mvpmods

Thumbs up Re: 2k11 PC Online League

hey guys good to see ya around, bsu bro, the reason the game prolly wasnt smooth, is because ppl did not do the proper methods, with the league, where making sure, everyone that signs up will be able to play the game smoothly. no worries, as long as your doing the bench mark after setting your reso, you should be fine.
