OS Community Roster (based of mkharsh33's roster)

So taking fiddy's advice this can be the community edit thread for the continuation of mkharsh's roster. I feel like with such a great base of a roster file that we have, and the dedication of the users on OS we could have a great roster file. We can use this post to organize when/what people want to edit and overall make this process alot easier.

Re: OS Community Roster (based of mkharsh33's roster)

got some views so far, i hope the people from mkharsh's thread check this out so we can start organizing times and coordinating to get this community effort up and running. iirc the padres, cubs, angels, and i can do the phillies are either done or ready to be done sometime soon. unfortunately we dont have the roster creating tools like the show has, but hopefully a thread like this helps us work around that. ill wait another day or so to see if anyone has started, who did the most so we can find out where we are starting this, if nothing ill start it off with the pitch edits, deliveries, and phillies farm system. dont wanna start that if someone already started their share.

also try to keep this in mind when doing prospect ratings. this is for the community so try to be as un-biased as possible. if you are having a hard time with ratings or disagree with how someone rated a player then use this thread to DISCUSS it. no yankees fans ripping on every red sox prospect/rating etc.

when rating prospects think of what they really should max out as. a 3 star player is a more than serviceable mlb player. a 4 star is your good/border line all-star player. where 5 stars are the cream of the crop. look at an average team and see how many 5 star players are actually on their mlb roster. there shouldnt be 10+ 5 star prospects in the minors.

if possible i'd like to stay as far away from changing mlb ratings as possible for now. not only would it be a pain to keep track of right now, with an experiment like this to do a community roster a mistake to how someone decides to rate players can kill this thing in its tracks. and its still pretty early in the year to see if anyone is more then in a hot streak/slump right now anyway.

10 5* prospects I think is too much.

thats what i said lol. in reality the star heavy teams in the majors usually have 1 or 2 5 star prospects in the minors, where as a team who's rebuilding might have up to 4 maybe 5.

Don't forget that just because I prospect is given 5 star status that doesn't mean he's necessarily gonna ever reach a 90's rating. There are plenty of 4 and 5 star guys that don't get there when you sim ahead a bunch of years. I don't see anything wrong with limiting 5 star prospects, but I think 15 or so 4 star or hiigher prospects per team isn't that much of a stretch.

yes i know i had the same discussion in mkharsh's thread. its hard to be exact when you give someone a potential rating, because its such a wide range of possibilities. another thing you have to look is in mlb 2k12 we only have 3 farm teams per mlb team. where in real-life alot of the of higher regarded prospects are in some of the lower systems but have a very high potential. so then you have to kinda decide whether you want to include the 4/5 star rated pitch who's pitching in low A ball and decide who from high A you don't want on the team.

baseball prospectus has a good guide for star rating for each prospect under its prospect section.
