Some general realism improvements
Not one for getting involved in criticising or moaning about the game but I figure it's worth pointing out a few things that I feel would make for a much more realistic game, which I assume is the ultimate goal.
1. Player positional attributes - It has always seemed odd to me that a player can be a LG or RG exclusively or a MLB or OLB etc... It seems that the NFL has more flexibility than that.
I would like to see a rating for each player at each position. I think that a player should be able to move positions like Aaron Kampman for example might be 10/10 for DE and a 7/10 for OLB. Anterl Rolle would have a rating for safety and for CB etc, etc...
2. Better playbooks - The playbooks in Madden 10 are too vanilla they should have more individuality. For example the Bears frequently move Greg Olsen around the formations he lines up at FB, TE or the right and left and out wide.
3. More specific formation substitutions - I don't like the way that subs is based solely on fatigue. Some teams make concerted afforts to swap players out for good reasons. I think there needs to be a slider for each team based on how often they rotate backs or have the ability too edit the personnel packages for each formation as you can in 2K5.
The Bears for example bring Mark Anderson at DT on 3rd and long which is much better than having a big run stopper like Anthony Adams on the field.
4. Scheme specific ratings - You cannot have a Jamal Williams able to play in a cover-2 it makes no sense. Meanwhile you shouldn't be able to play Gary Brackett as a 3-4 ILB we need some sort of relevant rating to make teams sign the correct players.
