Strategy Sunday - Manning Offense (and More) - Forward Progress

What's up, everybody?

So I know that not every tip I put up can please EVERYONE, so I've decided to create a segment to my video blogs/tips where I break down purely X's and O's. Call it sim, or whatever you want to call it...but these tips are more geared towards telling you what to think on your pre-snap reads, and breakdowns of what play/plays to call against a given set, or concepts to run vs. a given coverage.

This week, I have a two-part special, as I took the time to make the appropriate roster moves for the Denver Broncos and preview the looks that Bronco fans will most likely see in Denver next year. The first breakdown goes into detail of Peyton Manning's favorite formation calls, Singleback Deuce, and Singleback Slot Strong Y-Trips.

While this video teaches you the Curl-Flat concept and how to attack most zone calls.

Enjoy these videos, and as always...feel free to rate, comment, subscribe, and even request future tips for Strategy Sundays in the future.

Thanks guys,
ZAN

Great videos, Zan. Looking forward to more in the future. I know Peyton loved the levels concept, as well as stick & spot concepts too.

If your taking requests, I'd love to see break downs on stick, spot, mesh & follow/trail concepts. (in no particular order).

You also hit a great point in that almost ALL the NFL teams use these same run & pass concepts, just disguised in different formations. I think the playbooks need to reduce the amount of 'garbage' plays and stick to a lot of actual concepts that teams run.

excellent stuff Zan. I actually just found this site looking for your old cover 2 buc writeup on Google.

I used these two videos to find your 4-2-5 stuff, and man.. that's a ton of greatness.

can't wait to see you in 13.

Not specifically Madden, but a good write-up on the simple but well-executed Manning-era offense in Indy is around on Smart Football here.

Re: Strategy Sunday - Manning Offense (and More) - Forward Progress

I really liked the first video, which focused on the Levels play. It really showed me how that play works. The fact that the 30-something Stokley, who is quite slow, can make that 4 yard pass a 15 yard gain, makes me think that a younger and faster receiver could make the play even more effective.

The curl flat video was also very helpful. Whenever I run that play in any formation, I struggle to complete the pass. I usually am forced to dump it off to the half back. Very helpful videos, I subbed on youtube.
