Re: Madden NFL 13 Impressions - Gameplay (NO QUESTIONS/DISCUSSION)

The more I keep playing and having fun...the more and more I am enjoying the game for what it is.

A decent NFL football game.

Nothing more and nothing less.

CCM feels like fantasy football all the way. And that's not a bad thing. I am really getting a kick out of the tweets and draft story lines.

For example I scouted an OLB who has been deemed too small and is a killer on the field apparently. So I scouted him pretty extensively and he is a perfect fit for my scheme and seems to have a lot of potential. The following week he was tossed from a college game for fighting.....so a major character issue.

He could be a late round steal. I like this kinda stuff and really enjoy this new aspect to the game.

Hopfully all the offline CCM bugs get worked out on the October patch.

But for those wanting a true NFL sim?

Look elsewhere. This game is far from that.

It is a fun, good looking game meant to be played and enjoyed with friends or online. If your willing to look past it's faults you can have a ton of fun with this game offline.

I had a great game in week 3 against The Jets. I was down 45-38 with 15 seconds left on my 24 yard line. Knowing they were playing 3 deep prevent I decided to run a HB screen to Reggie Bush. Low and behold I pulled off a miraculous TD down the sideline to tie it up and then win in OT. Reggie finished with 150 yards rushing 120 yards receiving..... a career day!

I was having a blast.

Suspend reality.

It's a video game.

I couldn't have said it any better Armor...it is how I feel about it too!...A very fun Madden game. It really is if you can look past it's faults. I think for the future it is going to get better.....I really believe that. Sure, it dosn't have most of the things we all would love to have but there is something about this madden that is so different then the others. And I think that was the goal of the Madden team...This is me speculating of course.

Time will tell however...but so far, it's looking good!

peace

Re: Madden NFL 13 Impressions - Gameplay (NO QUESTIONS/DISCUSSION)

graphics are great
the gameplay is ok, running backs like Frank Gore will put their hand on the back of the offensive lineman and run off of his block, but in this game, you just run right into the back of the lineman....

the left analog stick for running is kind of annoying, i want to use the d-pad for running because i like to run north and south, the juke moves arent really effective, there is no studder step juke, just the usual juke, where you lose all your momentum and someone tackles you from behind...

if i am doing a season mode with the 49ers, i cant play other games from around the league....that was one of the funnest parts of madden...getting to know all the teams in meaningful games...playing all of the divisional and championship games...

Re: Madden NFL 13 Impressions - Gameplay (NO QUESTIONS/DISCUSSION)

One thing that is glaring to me now after playing a bunch is that the cpu is rarely in press coverage. They usually play pretty soft making it tough to get a WR behind a guy. You can still do it but the NFL presses quite a bit more than what you see in Madden imo.

I would really like to see true player movement and momentum along with foot planting reflected in Madden 14. I think players accelerate to top speed WAY too fast. I also think agility and the ability to cut needs to change based on a player's speed. The faster a player is running should make it harder to cut in opposite directions but it doesn't seem to change at all in an EA football game. Your ability to cut seems the same no matter how fast you run. Just watching the Top 5 highlights of the NFL in week two and seeing the Eric Wright INT return for TD in that game illustrates how off the player movement is in EA Football compared to reality.

I'd say they're in press coverage about 50% of the time for me, but I audible my offensive line every play and whenever I audible, they seem to always come up to press.

This zone coverage crap is starting to turn me into one of those people that just want to beat the issue like a dead horse.

Re: Madden NFL 13 Impressions - Gameplay (NO QUESTIONS/DISCUSSION)

I traded madden in for borderlands. This mark the second year in the row that I am disgusted with the Madden franchise. The infinity engine, good idea, is clearly a work in progress that shouldn't been release until completely ready. This game has become a cross between NFL blitz and techmo bowl. Players don't wrap tackle anymore its all collisions and bodies flying everywhere. Offensive line pocket techniques are terrible. Sry qbs can throw accurate long balls down the field to their recievers. Ratings are overrated because their is solely no difference in what people can do. Within the scheme of the game, plays and gameplanning is pointless. Instead of the engine, EA should of worked on players and relativity to the field. Its too easy that your running back comes out the backfield and runs an out and get ten yards. He's a check down, look at the rate of yards a check down usually gets, maybe 3 to 5 yards at best not 15 to 20 everytime it happens or if he 's guarded. Zone is terrible. Defense is almost pointless. Had a guy run in's, curls, and outs all day. Man coverage allows a 5 yard separation if the timing route is hit properly, which is cool, but not when you have corners such as revis, bailey, or samuel that hop routes like that. The middle of the field is easy picking because wide out move too fast for the middle coverage LBs. The game is catered to casual/new users because I can pass, without running a down, 600 yards a game on all madden due to reading coverages and just knowing they are not going to react. Bring back madden 09 or 11, the best maddens I've play on the new gen technology. Game is garbage.

Can anyone from Gamechangers or someone explain why did the developers took out the defensive matchups from coach options? This was a nice additions for somewhat of a strategy. Now it's gone. These developers baffle me at taking things out. EA u need too have the concept as those guys developing the SHOW, don't take anything out and just add on what u have and make what u have better.

Online still the worst experience I've ever had. Up 21-14 30 seconds left, connection lost. BRUTAL, AND I RECEIVE THE LOSS? EA released a broken game.

I played the retail, and I have to say, the passing trajectories are SPLENDID. Breath of fresh air.

Unfortunately, that's where the good news ends for me, as I wasn't impressed with the IE at all. Everything else looked and felt worse than Madden 12 to me.

Really starting to enjoy this game. The infinity engine makes the game addictive and just plain fun to look at. I still have issues passing the ball, even on really slow speed, but I figure it'll take some time.
