Oh How I Miss The Old User Profile System...

Am I the only one whos misses the days of battling head to head on the same console? I used to go at it with my best friend back on the old PS2. EVERY game was tracked, including stats. You knew where you stood before every game. Maybe EA could institute something for your friends list at least. I'd love to know what my record was against my greatest foes, for nothing more than bragging rights. I just feel that this would add so much to the immersion aspect...

And since I'm on the user profile thing...how about a "User Stat" tracking system? That would be a great way to see who has stick and who doesn't. User sacks, catches, interceptions, tackles, etc. I think that would be awesome. They could attach all types of achievements. Just my thoughts.

That's the problem with Video Games in general, we have siblings/friends to you know? That's why four controller port consoles are awesome, and we need them back.

Very true, but at least we can hook 4 controllers up to same console. The problem is that the controllers cost as much as the games. I try to get a bunch of fellas together as often as I can. I like online, but a piece of the essence of gaming is taken away when ur limited to a headset.

Name a console that can't accept 4 controllers.

I couldn't agree more myself. I miss the User Profile Stats bigtime. I still, to this day only play head to head against friends, same console, same room... socially ya know? Not all this sit by myself in my basement and play online with randoms or online "friends". Give me a case of beer, and some friends in my living room with a madden free for all.

Loved how you could always look at stats between users, including wins/losses, yards, turnovers etc. etc. It even tracked stats between users and the CPU which was awesome. I always knew where I stood in Madden against my friends, and the CPU.

Sadly that all got lost in the shuffle years ago. Why they dont bring it back is beyond me. Ridiculous really.

Honestly, its the one thing I miss most that would consistently be at the top of my wishlist for the next Madden.

The 360 has 3 USB ports... or at least the original does. I don't know about the Slim. You can connect a wireless as a 4th, but you cannot have 4 wired USB controllers. I am not sure about the PS3, but if I remember my friend's PS3, you can only do 2.

Again, I am talking wired.

i agree 1000% This isn't only great for head to head stat tracking but your own personal stat tracking is well, i used to always look at my personal stats even against the computer to see how well i was playing: passing %, yards, rushing average, etc. This was a big loss, would love to see us get it back

...and if you need 4 players then connecting wirelessly isn't exactly some cumbersome thing to do, is my point - and most people probably do so even for single player. Just because something doesn't have 4 'ports' on it has eliminated co-op gaming. Software/the market has.

The problem isn't 'we need more consoles with 4 ports'

In fact, I bet a lot of people think their play and charge kits count for being 'wired' too, when they're still connecting wirelessly.

There aren't even any wired official PS3 controllers....

Re: Oh How I Miss The Old User Profile System...

I use my play and charge kit a ton, but disconnect when it is green.

On topic, I agree. that was a ton of fun.

I used to have my two friends I played Madden with on my NGC memory card and latter on my original XBox Hard Drive. We would compare stats against each other. We would also go back and compare old saves of prior versions of Madden too to see if we got better or worse.

All that stat tracking was nice. Of course Madden on last gen had a lot more REAL user control. For example, back in the day you had to push the button at the right time to make a user catch or pick. Now you just hold the button you want and the computer does the work for you. It's sad really. I remember watching YouTube links about Rocket Catching in Madden 09 and how they would say "Just hold Y/Triangle." Also, when you want to try and shed a block, you just flick the Right thumb stick left or right. Up and down asks for you to get pancaked regardless of what the controls say to do... and just flick it again and again as the animation plays out until it works. The old mini games used to matter.

The mini games used to teach you how to play Madden better. They were fun and fun as co-op challenges. My friends would often want to start a day of gaming by playing some heads up mini games to "warm up" their stick skills before we play a "serious" franchise match.
