So am I the only one who plays on Very Fast with Threshold at 0?

I did this with Madden 12 for the first time when it launched and its the only way I feel to get the most realistic experience.
It forces you as QB to Snap/Read/Throw in a timely manner, you hold the ball you get sacked just like the real thing. Also, the replays and animations to me look better because they are more representative of
the speed of an actual NFL game. Especially using the Highlight creator which is what I mainly use to watch replays. We have talked about this before but with Madden 13 and Infinity now in the mix, this demo is sweet with these settings.
Im impressed EA let us actually adjust this stuff in the demo.
I put the speed threshold at zero because that is the most accurate disparity in speed between say a Dlineman and the fastest guy on the field. Alot of people complain that there are too many breakaway plays for TDs on these settings but to that I say if you call the correct D there is no problem. But if you leave a corner out on an Island with no help all day he can be exploited eventually...Just like what would occur in an actual game. Ive played High scoring games in this demo with these settings and Ive played defensive battles too that ended with three field goals total being scored. Its all about what you call and what you do.

No Im right there with you, but my threshold was at 85. Will be changing it to like 40 or 35.

We are in the minority thats for sure

My reason for playing on fast is for the same reasons you mentioned above. I want to make quick decisions like you have to in real life.

I think one thing that has to be understood about the Min Speed Threshold setting is this...When set to Zero, that is the most accurate representation of the speed that is on an actual NFL field. At Zero, a WR with blazing speed has a completely realistic speed compared to that of a DE.
IF you start turning that number upward you are buffering, or closing the gap between the Fastest guy and the slowest guy. SO you can look at it either way - you are either making the Slowest guy faster or making the fastest guy slower, either way that gap gets closer to being closed.
SO, if you are looking for the most Sim experience, you need to either leave it at zero, or barely tweak it upward. The higher you go, the more ARCADE the game becomes because a guy like a Speed burner WR will have a better chance of being run down by a slower guy (be it a DB, LB or DLineman) which in turn is NOT realistic.
So I caution against tweaking that number up too high bc all you are doing is Nerfing the speed of the fastest guys on the field...basically.
One thing I like about these settings is that if Its late in the game and time is running out and I need to go vertical I can and I have a better chance of completing the play if the conditions are right. I can use my Fastest wr the way hes supposed to be used. Doesnt always result in a TD or even a completion, but I can take advantage of what I am supposed to be able to take advantage of to give myself the best possible chance to succeed.
With the speed threshold turned upward, this almost nullifies this strategy thus making for an UNrealistic playing game...at least to a guy who's looking for the most accurate representation of NFL speed/strategy.

Re: So am I the only one who plays on Very Fast with Threshold at 0?

Call me crazy, but I've found watching football on TV to be very different from watching in person. On TV, everything looks fast and perfect, but when you're in the stands, the game looks more organic. Players are subbed in and out and trot onto the field, line play actually looks like really physical a battle, and the game seems to play out slower.

Having played sports, I've come to understand that the game doesn't move in fast forward like it looks on TV. Things tend to slow down. People don't look as fast in person as they do on TV, even though they are going the same speed.

So, while everyone is pushing for a more TV realistic presentation, I'm just looking for an authentic football feel. And in my opinion, the slower Madden settings replicate more realistic depictions for speed.

The speed threshold is something I've got to tweak a bit, however.

I keep my speed threshold at around 25.

My reason for raising it was to limit the big play if I felt the big play was way to easy to execute in the game, but raising it doesn't actually guarantee that.

I have recently found that it actually aids it because now guys rarely get caught from behind. Within the trenches it is helpfull in limiting the big play, but once you break away it is much more difficult for a slower player to get caught from behind by a faster player.

This is why Im looking to move my threshold to 40 or 35. I feel 0 threshold is to huge of a setting for what Im looking for.

Re: So am I the only one who plays on Very Fast with Threshold at 0?

Speed threshold to my knowledge means what ever you set it to, no players ratings go go less then that number. So a threshold of 40 means even if a player has 35 speed, he will run with 40. At zero everyone would play at their rated attributes.

I play on slow or even very slow with 0 threshold. Normal and above seams like arcade action and super sonic speed IMO.

Glad there is a setting for everyone though.

That's incorrect sir. I wish EA didn't take down the M10 blogs so we would have a reference point. They had it all broken down by 40 time (Yea I know running in pads is different but I digress). Basically, a setting of 100 most closely represented 40 times, while low thresholds only widened the gap.

So depending on how you look at it, a threshold of zero is penalizing the not so fast players in the NFL by representing them as slower in-game than they are in real life.

If you ran the 40 with the slowest player in Madden on a 0 setting, it would take him a lot longer to finish than it does IRL. Probably upwards of 7-9 seconds if I had to guess which isn't all that realistic.
