And it is largely on the shoulders of the leaders rather than the dev team. I am convinced of this... if the devs had a say, the game would take a lot more chances to push innovation.

Unfortunately, in the end, it is a business.

Let's wait toward the end of this gen to tell us what we already know. Stand up job as always EA.

Acquiring exclusive rights was both the saviour and the death knell for Madden.
Without competition, Madden stays safe, and without competition there is nothing for EA to rip off.

It was a pure selfish, arse-saving manoeuvre for EA. The consumers are the only losers here.

I love it when reps for a particular game come out and admitt/acknowleges a issue that fanboys have been trying to defend for a long time.

The positive being this has been acknowledged. We/they move on and we look forward to the future of this franchise. I believe the steps taken this year are the first of many that will elevate Madden again. The Connected Careers mode will be franchise changing.

It's not exactly that for me, it's just that a few people actually assumed it was console limits that made it hard for Madden to grow. That really irked me a bit, if games like GTA, Metal Gear or Final Fantasy are even made, how can you try to say Madden (or any sports game) is more powerful than those kinds of games. It was just like, really? Madden's pushing the limits of console gaming...are you serious...?

I'm not sure if I came across those people here or on the EA forums but it was mind-blowing to think people thought or believed that to be the case for the series lacking.
