Will we see something showing the tuning to the lineman and zig zag running?

With the exceptional connected career mode (yes, I am one of the few who actually love this feature), I am still stumped by a few things regarding gameplay.

Since the Madden team and some gamechangers said months ago that the running will be "tuned" to be more realistic and that the line play would be "tuned", I was wondering if we were going to see the results of that. So far in all of the videos, the line play and the running (zig zagging and swerving) looks exactly the same as it did in Madden 11 and 12. What exactly are the changes that can be made by "tuning" these items?

It would be nice to see some comparisons to Madden 12 as to how the newly tuned running and line play looks. Although there are some encouraging changes in the gameplay areas of Madden, I am still trying to figure out why player movement/running and line play were completely ignored. Since the physics were done by a completely separate team, the gameplay team was supposedly doubled, yet the only change that seems to have been made by this team is the passing game and some tweaks that supposedly removed pyschic defenders. While these are both welcomed changes (assuming they work as advertised), I would expect that more significant changes would have been made with a doubled team. It's frustrating that there are basic elements that we "see on Sunday" that are remaining unchanged yet again. It is kind of strange that the only NFL game doesn't even have all of the rules that the NFL has.

So I guess I'm wondering how many guys it took to work on pass trajectories and lead passing? Did that take an entire year? I'm legitimately asking why the rest of what makes football "football" is still missing. Will we get the rest next year? Will there be a patch that will include some significant improvements?

Good question. I also wonder why they never tweaked locomotion -- locomotion and this new engine would of made player movement special.

Don't know. I think they're still trying to cater to casual fans when it comes to the player movement. Them guys will start complaining if they can't rocket skate their way around defenders lol.

It makes no sense. RTP definitely doesn't benefit casual/arcade heads. If you're gonna implement physics, you might as well fix the player movement along with it. Think about it, if these guys complain about player turn radius being too realistic, you think they AREN"T going to complain about not being able to run through defenders anymore because they're tripping and falling over them now.

Those guys are going to be furious because they have to take real world collisions into account now.

With RTP implemented, the Madden team has made a statement to the casual fans. They're getting back to reality. Since that statement has been made, why not go all out? The sim heads had to suffer for the last 8 years with horrible collision and movement and most of us probably still bought the game. Hey, its time for the casuals to suffer for awhile now. They can suck it up just like we did and still buy the game also.

It's frustrating, with proper running technique and human capability we would be able to do things such as in FIFA where you can use a defender's momentum against him.

Right now sprinting or zig zagging is the best way to beat a defense. You can't cut back or stutter step to freeze the defender or use his momentum against him.

In addition it makes following blocks less important. If turn radii and proper acceleration/foot planting were involved allowing blocks to set up and then cutting off said blocks would be 1. more realistic and 2. more succesful.

Nothing more exciting than how Dante Hall returned punts, or Barry Sanders cut backs and acceleration/deceleration.

In order to cut back on a punt return your only bet is to run in a semicircle from one end of the field to the other, hoping you have superior speed ratings to the oncoming punt coverage and beat them to the outside.

it would be great to be able to cut back, break a lunging arm tackle from the defender racing by you trying to stop, then turning on the jets up the sideline...I only hope.

I JUST WANNA DANCE WITH THE BALL CARRIER!!!!

They really didnt do anything to momentum running from left to right however I feel it will be the next major gameplay change.

this is a response from one game changers when asked about that on the EA forum so we got the new engine but were still gonna have the zig zag running ice skating.

Simfballcritic and Smitty of TSS are going to ea tomorrow for a community event to discuss this and many other gameplay issues.

What kind of game is Tiburon interested in making? Right now Madden is an arcade game and it still is with 13. Realistic is not "fun" apparently. I know for a fact some prominent folks who have influence on this game feel this way and I find that incredibly frustrating. I wouldn't care if I had another option that went in a different direction, but... I digress. Is Madden going to be a true simulation or is it going to be a "fun" game for people to play and put up huge numbers like it is now? If I was 12 I would think madden was the greatest thing ever, unfortunately, I'm not. The gameplay still looks silly and in reality, there weren't too many changes this year. The physics team worked hard, but it's only on collisions (which is ok for a first year), but player movement is awful still and we still don't see what we see on Sunday. So when they say they doubled the gameplay team, I would expect some serious massive changes to gameplay. Passing needed to be addressed and they seemed to have done that, but they added trajectories (wow! I can throw it over a defender!) and lead passing (for the 12th time in a football game). I mean come on, where's the big change from central gameplay? Not to mention if you are going to say you are definitely tuning running and line play, I'd like to see what that actually means. Sorry, but I'm not taking their word for it. Does that mean they are actually going to fix it, adjust ratings, "calibrate" it? Show us the difference between a "tuned" line or running animation and the current one.

I know, "maybe next year" and "it's definitely headed in the right direction".

Kind of like when sports games say they have made changes "under the hood"...that usually means you will see absolutely no difference in anything.
