Do I HAVE to User Control to REALLY make things easy?

I play on All-Pro because All-Madden is BS. On All-Pro, I'm good. I don't go 16-0 but usually 15-1, 14-2 and stuff. But there's something I need to know.

Is All-Pro 'easy' when you do a lot of user controlling? Because I went 14-2 and won the Super Bowl in a season where I passed for over 6,000 yards and passed for 62 touchdowns. But in those two losses, I struggled like hell on offense, specifically because of the unrealistic player movement (speed/superfast/psychic CB's and LB's).

Now I don't do face throws, rocket catches, super quick throws, stuff like that. I try to play as sim as possible (except I over curl routes or comeback routes since you'll never know when they'll be picked of).

So do I need to use these tactics to make All-Pro super duper easy like you guys have it?

You should use some slider adjustments and go to all madden if you want a challenge. Also changing the speed threshold and stamina sorta affects player movement.

I don't even know what a face throw is LOL

I don't think All-Madden is BS, at least not with sliders more tailored to your own ability/preferences. Default A-M might be BS, but...I can't remember playing on default for very long.

I don't think you need a ton of user control, either. In my franchise, I don't user switch on defense (basically, it's almost coach mode on defense for me though I often control a DT/DE because of the "line play" in the game) and on offense, I only control the QB, HB/FB, and the receiver after the catch.

I think you could be good on All-Madden with sliders that work well for how you play the game, while experiencing no more bs than what just happens with this game on any sliders.

Re: Do I HAVE to User Control to REALLY make things easy?

This is why sliders and options are in the game.

I have been working with people in the slider community on a set that works for me, and I think I am close to a set that I can enjoy.

In a nut shell, I am playing with 100 fatigue/5 injury with adjusted substitutions.

I am also playing with adjusted penalty settings. In Madden there are a lot of penalties not in the game, and the ones that are are rarely called. In an average NFL game, a team commits around 6-8 penalties each. In Madden you almost never see a flag thrown. With the penalties I am testing out, that changes. This results in long yardage situations than can kill a drive and nullify a big play for the user. This can force you to punt more often which has an effect on tempo. Some game can start off with 4 or 5 penalties on my first few drives, and while that feels like they are happeing too much... but as I continue ot play I won't see my 5th or 6th flag until the 4th quarter, so they still feel pretty balanced right now.

These two changes to the settings have big impact on my game play experience.

The other thing that is important to me are my User defensive settings compared to the CPU's offensive settings. I have it set up right now where you can generate pressure with a 4 man pass rush, yet the AI can carve up a cover zero 6 man blitz if you don't have a great secondary. Honestly, about half my sacks come from screen passes gone wrong. More often than not the pressure my pass rush applies on the AI just forces early throws, bad throws and throwaways.

I also play with 0 speed threshold and auto-sprint OFF and never press sprint unless I am scrambling with my QB. Fast palyers like Ted Ginn are still deadly, and you can still break away asyou can see in this clip:

K. Hunter is my #2 HB with 91 speed who came in with fresh legs to spell Frank Gore in the 4th quarter. With a R-Stick juke move cut at the LoS and good blocking, he was off to the races. The only real problem I have with that play is that my movement caused the faster defender who was catching up to run into his team mate and was unable to run me down. H comes out of no where at blazing fast speed and then hits his team mate and loses momentum. Maybe I would have broken the tackle, but I think I would have been caught. Had I pressed sprint though, I would have EASILY been gone.

NOTE - When you play with custom sliders you HAVE to play in Franchise mode. For hat ever reason the same settings play differently in Play Now than thy do in Franchise. Why? I don't know but they just do. Also, give the settings 3 games to "settle in" for what ever reason, when ever you change a setting, the game gets all wonky for a few games before things settle in.

Oh, and finally, when running the football, make sure you use the slide protect features before the snap. Depending on what you want to do, chose left, right, aggressive or pinch. They matter.

P.S. Here are some clips of my front 4 in the 2-4 nickle getting work done, all contrlled by the AI while I drop back into coverage:

These are now old clips I have shared a ton already and in the future I will try and record more examples. Maybe tonight, who knows?

Personally if you're looking for a REAL challenge I'd suggest skipping out on CPU play all together, and tweaking sliders etc. Find yourself a good Online Franchise or two with a good group of guys and roll from there.

I'm really surprised SO many people like a mode with no 'user' interaction, as repetitive as the CPU is I can barely practice vs the CPU offline.

Some people like online some people like offline. It's nothing wrong with playing offljne franchise if you have the right set of sliders to challenge you. I consider myself a very good player and I play with the best of them online.. My sliders(black) will provide a challenge for anybody who thinks the CPU is too easy especially if your not the type of player who uses cheats and exploits.. I've made a believer out of plenty of people like yourself who thinks playing the CPU is boring and easy. That's fine if you don't like playing the CPU. Everybody has there own personal preference of how they play the game but you can make the CPU very competive with sliders. You can check out my thread in my signature and read all the comments from the MANY gamers who use my sliders.

Re: Do I HAVE to User Control to REALLY make things easy?

You can ask Jarodd21 [above] who I have spoken with for months about sliders changes and adjustments.

I have played with settings where I kill the AI 28-0 in the first quarter... and settings where I can only complete passes to the other team missing my receiver by 7 yards, my D can't tackle, Frank Gore fumbles on back to back drives and suddenly I am losing 35-0.

It's been a long road and every setting is set for a reason, though some are STILL in the tweaking stages. Penalties and user catching specifically.

If you can find a group of settings that can challenge you without being BS, it makes a world of differnce. I have gone from yelling at my TV because of madden crap to mostly yelling at my virtual players for their mistakes... and congradulating thm on a good play. My fiancee thinks I'm crazy and asks why I play a game that frustrates me so often, but with the frustration comes the joy of great plays and great games!

I find 2k8 to be a much better game, but I am enjoying Madden 12 again.

Um.... on offense if you threw for over 6000 yards and 62 TDs.....a tad too easy, wouldn't you say? And yes you lost the games when it wasn't easy. Also you see a difference in going 15-1, or 14-2 or 16-0????? If you are a really good team, OK (like Pats or Packers etc.). If this is Buffalo, something is wrong.
I'm not critizing you...but I think you have the thought that unless it's easy, something is wrong with the game. Based on your numbers you should be playing on all madden...but with slider modifications. Anyone on the slider forum, including myself would be happy to help.

I modified my own slider set and get great games (mostly....2-3 times a week - I play about 10-15 games weekly - i get BS but it's not because of all madden per se. Just bad luck with Penalties, fumbles returned for TD's etc.
