madden 13 new grass

I just saw that they redid the grass for madden 13,I think it looked better in madden 12, the new grass in 13 looks like old ps2 days, check out these pics.

I think the M13 grass is far more photo realistic up close like it should be. It seems in M12 they were using far away photo shots of the grass to depict it up close too maybe.

One look likes M13, the first with lighter grass, the other like M12, so idk which is better but some people did complain about the color of the grass didn't look real in M12. Maybe they will chime in.

At first I did feel like the field did look a bit too much like a pool table; but I have seen some distance shots (like the ones Big Fn Deal posted) that show similar color to the photos depicted for M13, however, I think the majority of those pictures were for artificial turf.

For example, I don't think Soldier Field would EVER look anything like that M13 pic.

I'm really waiting for them to release pics of field degradation, which is something they aluded to in the presentation blog. It is supposed to be a great complement to this new field texture.

So as it seems quite trendy these days... LET'S WAIT AND SEE

the lighter green with m13 looks better. Also up close to the field the blades of grass seem to look much better too. I think HDR lighting will also make the grass shimmer more realistically under certain scenarios, bringing out more color and vibrancy,etc.

That definitely looks more like the M13 pic, it might have a lot to do with the fact that it was the 1st game of the season and the field was really taken care of too look like that :P

Crowd has a lot less yellow in the Madden 13 pic too, maybe they did touch up the crowd just a little. I also heard that Madden 13 will have better field degradation so maybe the field will look like that week one but as the season progresses it will look less and less like a "pool table".

yeah you can tell it was early in the season by the people in the crowd still wearing short sleeves,etc..so it was early in the season in that pic

Yeah that was a good one up close that Smashman posted and that's what I was thinking in my first post, that M13 is a better depiction of real grass, closer in. It seems like the field in M12 was from far away photo angles and it stayed that way even in game play when closer to the field.

Also, like Moegames stated, the lighting may help too. Anyway, the grass was the least of my peeves in M12 but some people did complain so I am glad that they have tried to address it. Hopefully the grass and the game as a whole is more realistic.

EDIT*- I think I get what some some people are saying now about the field degradation. So the M12 field might have been depicting a pristine barely degraded field, where as M13 is going to actually degrade more so over time. Well will it start out pristine in M13, looking initially like M12 but degrade or just start out looking used and get worse? lol
