Fans to Pick Madden NFL 13 Cover from a Field of 64 Players

Actually, what EA should do is put John Madden back on the cover, or just have the NFL logo, with a tagline like: Madden NFL 13: Back to Basics or something like that to symbolize the company's efforts at re-shaping the Madden Franchise by focusing on core gameplay issues.

The fan voting took place during March madness last year.

I'm torn here. I would love a Niner to rep the cover of Madden. Like Patrick Willis, but there is no way in hell I would want that aura/curse/loadofcrap around him all season.

Let's face it Tebow is going to win. Although Megatron, Gronk, Newton, Suggs, Cruz, and Steve Smith are all deserving.

I was more of a fan on waiting to see who EA had picked. Regardless if I was happy or frustrated by the decision.

I preferred it when they picked the cover athlete too, because for a few years there, the guy they picked seemed to tie into the additions to they made to the game.

Michael Vick = playmaker controls where you could improvise when the play broke down.
Ray Lewis = "Fear the D" introduced a whole set of brand new defensive tools to balance the game out.
Donovan McNabb = QB vision.
Shaun Alexander = run to daylight with the lead blocking controls.

Guess that kind of thing is wishful thinking now.

There should be a rule that one year wonders be excluded. I want to see an established guy win it. A good character person. I think most people view that making the cover is earned and respected. Also should be a gamer themselves. I like Drew Brees but he doesn't strike me as the type to play Madden. Dwight Freeney would be an excellant choice as he won the Madden Bowl in 01.

I'm pretty sure the Chicago choices are gonna between Devin Hester and Matt Forte, or MAYBE Jay Cutler. I'm not even sure who'd advance, it'll probably be close there.

But I'm pretty sure Gronk and Tebow are gonna advance, but I'm not sure how far Tebow would simply because a lot of haters are gonna have him voted off as quickly as possible.

And I would NOT want to see MJD on the cover; that's really all the Jags have right now. Even though he's a gamer - a Madden gamer at that - I don't want that "curse" on him.
