How To Have The Most Realistic Franchise

Hey guys, I know there is a lot of people who want a realistic franchise, including me. Which is why I'm putting this up, since I have been loving franchise since doing this. Here is some tips that I know or have seen. Any other tips would be appreciate.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...mVrbmZndHNaYmc

1.Edit all players, go to the roster forums and go on "edits to fix up this game". I'm still working on some of the players(I have all of the players, done besides QBs,HBs,FBs, Ks,Ps), when I get all of the players done, I'll put a file up for download.

2.Download "Cursive138" from roster share on NCAA 12, its the most realistic draft class. If you don't have NCAA 12, he has a thread to download it on a USB and transfer to your Xbox. If you have a PS3, there is someone on "Want a realistic draft class?" working on a draft class for PS3 users.

3.Find a good slider set, I use JD's Franchise sliders and I like them a lot. The game is a lot harder with this set and with Tarantism's coaching scemes.

4.Control all 32 teams. I cut all the UDFAs on my team in the preseason, and sim to the regular season. All of the real players that got cut, I put back on the original team(i.e Bruce Carter gets cut almost every time so, I put him back on the Cowboys). I then make the UDFAs still on rosters and edit them to what, I feel they should be rated.

5.Go to "Examining Franchise's Elephant in the Room: Coaching Schemes" and use Tarantism's coaching scemes.

6. Trade the browns 7TH round for Atl's 1st round. Trade Ne's 7th round for No's 1st round and trade Cin's 7th round for Oak's 1st+next years 1st(I think that was the trade for Palmer).

7.Make players who aren't gonna retire(But do in the game), kickers or punters and make them 99 overall, then after retirements pass make them their original pos. R.Lewis said hes going stay for 1-2 more years and Brady said hes gonna play until hes 40+.

8.Rehire coaches if they deserve to stay.

9.Use a random number gen, while resigning players in the off-season, to determinate if they stay or leave.(I.e 0-38 keep and 39-100 they leave or vice versa)

The thing is, we shouldn't have to go through all this trouble just to get a realistic franchise =(

Re: How To Have The Most Realistic Franchise

After this year I just said screw it and just used 32 for the for 1st season to get the draft picks set and rehire/fire coaches. I figure that after seeing who's been fired, promoted, hired already this year, I have no idea what will happen next year, so why should I intervene?

Sure, the Franchise is far from being realistic, but the Bronocos made the Divisional round this year... Anyone who played Franchise when the game first came out would laugh at how fake that could be and how only it could happen in Madden...

I could spend a hell of a lot of time controlling all 32 teams, doing resigns and all that crap, and recreate my "assumed" realistic Franchise, or I could save a ton of time and just let it play out. Worst case, I need to make a few adjustments every now and then, but nothing that the edit feature won't let me fix (aside from mutated people).

BTW, I'm using KB's exp rosters (100 fatigue normal) and love em. Only controlling 1 team now and figured if the CPU copies your scheme anyways, I can still change and it should work the same (other than sim stats I guess). If it doesnt work like that, still provides an excellent game. Good info about keeping players in the league longer, always annoying when a guy ask for 3 years then retires later that year...

I don't understand why Eli is considered "elite" over Peyton and Big Ben.

People sure are jumping on this Eli bandwagon, eh?

Re: How To Have The Most Realistic Franchise

I've read the entire thread of "edits to fix up this game" and have tested a lot of the suggestions out to see how they work. I agree the game does play alot better with all these ratings changes. I'd even be willing to take the time to update all the player ratings for current teams, but here's the problem...

Progression pretty much undoes all of your work after the season. You would need to go back in and re-edit all the players whose ratings increased or decreased to get them back in line with where you originally had them. Not only that but you now have 200+ rookies to edit after the draft as well as all the UDFA's that come into the league. Kudos to you and anybody else who can keep up with this, but I find it to be outrageously time consuming.

I think these edits work best for people who play one year franchises, but for people like me who like to go 6, 7, 8 years deep it just isn't sustainable. Too bad really because it does fix a lot of the game play issues we all hate so much...
